Oh dear, it seems the Ethereum ETFs’ 19-day inflow extravaganza has come to a screeching halt. The party, which began on May 16, has ended with a rather modest $2.1 million net outflow on June 13. One does hope the guests didn’t get too terribly attached to the champagne and canapĂ©s.
During its remarkable run, Ethereum ETFs managed to rake in a whopping $1.37 billion in inflows. That’s roughly 35% of their total $3.87 billion net inflows since their debut in July 2024, if one is to believe the clever folks at Sosovalue. Quite the accomplishment, if I do say so myself.
The streak, which reached its crescendo with a $240.3 million inflow on June 11 (the largest in over four months, darling!), had investors positively giddy with excitement. Alas, the recent outflows suggest the enthusiasm may be waning, what with Ethereum’s price plummeting to $2,467 from its weekly high of $2,873 – a 14% drop, if you’re counting.
At the time of writing, ETH is trading near $2,517, with a 60% increase in its 24-hour trading volume. One supposes that’s a bit of a silver lining, but really, it’s all so… unpredictable. 🤯
Analysts, those clever devils, attribute this pushback to the recent market turmoil, which was triggered by Israel’s military strike on Iran. How very… human of them. 🙄
While the outflows are modest, they do serve as a reminder of the cryptocurrency market’s inherent unpredictability. Industry experts, ever the optimists, remain cautiously hopeful, citing growing institutional interest and potential regulatory clarity as drivers for future growth. One does hope they’re right, for the sake of the party, if nothing else. 🎉
