The long-awaited third season of Euphoria is officially up and running.
Production for the upcoming season of the drama series ‘Euphoria’ has commenced, and HBO unveiled a first glimpse from the new season. In this image, Zendaya’s character Rue can be seen looking backward in a dimly lit space. HBO also posted this snapshot on its social media platforms, accompanied by the simple statement: “Euphoria Season 3 is underway.
Filming for the show began three years after its second season premiered on HBO, which coincides with the network’s announcement from last summer that production would start in January.
The extended absence of “Euphoria” is due to several factors, including coordinating schedules for the busy cast members, as well as Sam Levinson’s work on HBO’s project “The Idol” in between. According to an article by The Hollywood Reporter last year, Zendaya and Levinson had a strained relationship during this lengthy break.
The main cast of “Euphoria,” comprising Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Colman Domingo, is coming back for the third season with eight episodes. However, Storm Reid will not be part of this new installment. In an October podcast interview, Zendaya mentioned that the upcoming season will involve a time leap, advancing the storyline past high school for the show’s younger characters.
A premiere date for season three hasn’t yet been announced.
Over the weekend, another popular series produced by HBO, House of the Dragon, also provided a production update. At a fan gathering in Orlando, actors Matt Smith and Fabian Frankel disclosed that they are deep into the filming process for season three, as production started last month.
