Eva Mendes Praises “My Man” Ryan Gosling for Helping Campaign for Best Stunt Design Oscar

Eva Mendes commends her husband, Ryan Gosling, for his efforts in securing recognition for stunts at the Oscars.

The announcement came the day after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed they were creating an Oscar for Stunt Design, effective from 2028. David Leitch, director of the movie The Fall Guy featuring Gosling and Emily Blunt, played a significant part in advocating for this new category, alongside stunt coordinator and designer Chris O’Hara.

Mendes celebrated her partner’s success on Instagram on Friday by posting, “My man is simply fantastic! Regrettably, accomplishments are often judged by box office figures. So I am exceptionally proud of my partner for transforming his entire Fall Guy promotional tour into a mission to secure recognition for stunts at the Oscars. And now, after almost 100 years of stunt design being ignored by the Academy, it’s finally an official category! This is a remarkable achievement that will stand the test of time. Bravo to the exceptional stunt community!!

She additionally posted pictures showing Gosling and Leitch alongside Seth Philip, the man behind the dudewithsign social media platform, with a sign saying, “Let’s give stunts an Oscar.” Previously, in April last year, the actor from ‘Barbie’, collaborated with Philip for the promotion of ‘The Fall Guy’, holding a sign that read, “Standing in as dudewithsign’s Stunt Double.

The actress and writer ended her post with a shout-out to Emily Blunt, saying, “By the way, this is the last time I’ll share a picture of my partner, the lovely Emily Blunt. That’s it!

Gosling and Mendes first crossed paths during the making of “The Place Beyond the Pines” in 2012. Even though she retired from Hollywood over a decade ago to dedicate her time to their two children and other professional pursuits, she has consistently shown her backing for her spouse, even in their private life. Last year, she commended Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken” act at the 2024 Oscars and his Cuban wife skit on Saturday Night Live.
