She admitted that she isn’t sure about her future roles. If appealing opportunities arise, she left her career at a point when, around ten years ago, working with Ryan Gosling made her feel like she had achieved what she set out to do. She described him as exceptional, and the experience of collaborating with him was an incredible high in her career. The success they shared together made her feel that it was the perfect moment to call it a day, similar to how Seinfeld ended abruptly after its ninth season despite being popular because Jerry Seinfeld felt it was time to conclude the series.

Mendes was featured in numerous other productions such as “2 Fast 2 Furious” and “The Other Guys”, prior to acting alongside her current husband, Gosling, in the 2012 film “The Place Beyond the Pines”. Subsequently, she chose to prioritize her role as a mother to their two daughters, Esmeralda Amada (age 9) and Amada Lee (age 7), along with other professional commitments, by taking a break from acting.

She had expressed during an interview on the Today show in March that it felt instinctive for her. She feels incredibly fortunate, and if given the chance, she would cherish every moment with her children. Even though she continues to work, acting roles often require being on location, which can be time-consuming. So, it was almost as if there was an unspoken understanding between herself and Gosling: he’d focus on his work while she’d concentrate on hers at home.

Over the course of their years together, the couple has maintained a low-key approach to their relationship, yet they’ve found discreet means to express their unwavering support for one another. An example is when Mendes posted a heartfelt message on Instagram after Gosling’s captivating “I’m Just Ken” performance at this year’s Oscars.
