Eva Victor’s ‘Sorry, Baby’ With Naomi Ackie, Lucas Hedges to Open Edinburgh Film Festival

Eva Victor’s comedy-drama film titled “Sorry, Baby ” is slated to debut at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. In this production, Naomi Ackie, known for her role in “Mickey 17“, and Lucas Hedges, famous for his part in “Lady Bird“, take leading roles. The story revolves around Agnes (Victor), who is embarking on a journey towards healing and recovery.

A tragic event has occurred in Agnes’s life, yet the world continues to spin. This is evident for those surrounding her, but not so much for Agnes herself. However, when a cherished companion pays a visit, Agnes starts to grasp the extent of her stagnation and slowly embarks on a journey toward progress.

At this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the film “Sorry, Baby”, directed by Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak and Barry Jenkins (known for “Moonlight”), made its debut. Notably, it was Victor who received the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the festival.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival is where we’ll see the movie being showcased as part of Directors’ Fortnight, followed by its release in the United States by A24 and in the United Kingdom by Picturehouse Entertainment later this year.

As a gamer, I’m excitedly counting down the days until August 14-20 when the Edinburgh International Film Festival takes place. This is a movie that truly knocked our socks off! According to Paul Ridd, EIFF CEO and festival director, it’s a blend of wit, emotion, and raw talent that leaves you in awe. The script is moving and thought-provoking, the direction is formal yet daring, and the performances from the cast are heart-wrenchingly beautiful.

This film’s fierce spirit and independence resonate deeply with EIFF, making it an ideal choice to open this year’s festival. I can hardly wait to witness such a remarkable piece of cinema!

According to Sara Frain, director of distribution & marketing at Picturehouse, “The Edinburgh International Film Festival is known for its dedication to highlighting fresh, unique voices in cinema.
