Even Masahiro Sakurai Had a Hard Time Getting the Switch 2

It appears that even developers of Switch 2 are struggling to obtain the console, as Masahiro Sakurai reportedly had to win it through Japan’s lottery system. However, some fans find this hard to believe since the creator of Super Smash Bros. is currently working on Kirby Air Riders for the system. Nonetheless, with over 2.2 million applications nationwide, anything could happen.

Sakurai (through Stealth40k) shared on Twitter his success in securing a pre-order for the Switch 2 through the stated raffle mechanism. This is surprising given his extensive history of game development with Nintendo, but circumstances can indeed alter. Whatever transpired, it’s clear that many fans are envious of his good fortune in this draw.

It seems rather unlikely that Masahiro Sakurai, being such an integral figure in numerous Nintendo games, wouldn’t have a Switch 2, given his current involvement in projects like Kirby Air Riders. One might even expect him to receive the console as a priority, considering his role in its development. However, it’s also possible that he requires one for professional purposes and another for personal use, but this is mere conjecture.

Due to an overwhelming enthusiasm for it, fans worldwide are finding it extremely challenging to secure the Switch 2. Given the immense popularity of its predecessor, people are eager to own this new device to prevent missing out (FOMO). Fortunately, North America has managed to avoid additional costs on the system itself, but tariffs have led to a price hike in accessories such as Joy-Cons and the camera.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but feel thrilled at the prospect of Masahiro Sakurai receiving a Switch 2. The peculiarity of him obtaining it via a lottery system adds to the intrigue, for life often proves to be more extraordinary than any work of fiction.
