The Sixth Sense

M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Sixth Sense” is a thought-provoking psychological thriller that lingers long in the minds of viewers. Released back in 1999, this film features Bruce Willis as Malcolm Crowe, a dedicated child psychologist seeking to help Cole, a boy who claims he can see spirits. As his wife looks on disapprovingly, Crowe invests substantial time into Cole’s case, with the boy’s mother increasingly distressed by her son’s escalating troubles. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at the rich legacy of the “Planet of the Apes” franchise, which dates back to the 60s, but it’s Caesar, the brilliantly crafted character from recent times, that truly resonates with me. The reboot series took off in 2011 with “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” a film that was an instant box office sensation, raking in $482 million globally on a budget of just $93 million. Despite the success of subsequent films, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” stands out as the most financially successful film in the reboot series, earning an impressive $711 million worldwide.
In the forest, ten years have passed since the first movie’s events, and Caesar leads an ape community, believing that all humans perished from the Simian Flu. Yet, when a band of humans intrude, seeking conflict, Caesar’s efforts to maintain tranquility for apes are threatened. The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be available on Hulu starting October 1st.
The Hills Have Eyes

2006’s grisly horror spectacle, “The Hills Have Eyes,” serves as my pick for an unsettling cinematic experience. This chilling masterpiece, reminiscent of Wes Craven’s 1977 original, leaves no doubt about its ferocious intent with unrelenting brutality that pushes the boundaries of comfort. Despite a sequel in 2007 under Martin Weisz’s direction, the first installation remains unparalleled in its impact on the mid-2000s horror genre.
On October 1st, you’ll find both parts of “The Hills Have Eyes” streaming on Hulu. The original film focuses on an unfortunate family trapped by mutated cannibals in a desolate desert landscape. In the sequel, a group of National Guard trainees face the same danger during their final day of training in a similar barren desert setting.
Late Night with the Devil

Under the title “Late Night with the Devil,” a 2023 horror movie was released, penned and helmed by the Cairnes brothers (Cameron Cairnes and Colin Cairnes). After its premiere in cinemas, it received a rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the Critics Consensus stating that “Late Night with the Devil is deliciously dark, demonstrating that possession horror isn’t exhausted, and serves as an impressive platform for David Dastmalchian’s acting talents.
In the upcoming movie, starring David Dastmalchian, Laura Gordon, and Ian Bliss, we find ourselves in 1977. The host of a late-night talk show, Jack Delroy, decides to do something extraordinary to boost ratings. He plans an exceptional Halloween special, inviting experts on demonic possession and their victims, including a psychic, a skeptic, and a survivor of cults. Unbeknownst to him, this event will open the door to evil, releasing it into American homes via television broadcasts. The chilling premiere of Late Night with the Devil is scheduled for Oct. 19 on Hulu.
