Netflix, globally known as one of the top streaming platforms, boasts more than 280 million users worldwide, offering numerous films and TV series in over 45 languages. The service is committed to preserving a premium collection that includes both self-produced content and licensed titles, ensuring viewers remain engaged month after month. Consequently, fresh content graces the platform every month, but it’s important to note that a significant number of movies are also taken down regularly for various reasons.

In December 2024, Netflix said goodbye to some of its top-notch and amazing movies like “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, “Troy”, and “The Matrix Resurrections”. If you wanted to watch any of these films before 2025, they were no longer available on Netflix, but don’t worry. ‘American Psycho’ (2000)

Despite being primarily known as a serial killer film, “American Psycho,” set to depart from Netflix on January 1st, offers much more than just that – it serves as a thought-provoking social commentary on societal acceptance and the blurred lines between imagination and reality.

‘Jaws’ (1975)

Under the guidance of director Steven Spielberg and adapted from Peter Benchley’s 1974 novel, the iconic movie “Jaws” revolutionized the horror genre with its gripping portrayal of a terrifying sea creature. Launched in 1975, this thrilling tale unfolds on the sun-drenched shores of Amity Island during a bustling summer season filled with beachgoers. The newly appointed Sheriff Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) discovers the grim evidence of a shark attack, initially proposing to shut down the beaches. However, Mayor Larry Vaughn is hesitant about this decision.

After experiencing a few more unfortunate mishaps, Brody joins forces with a local fisherman named Quint and marine biologist Matt Hooper to pursue the sea monster. Will he manage to conquer this colossal beast in its own domain? “Jaws” is an unmissable film that everyone should watch at least once during their lifetime, but it will no longer be available on Netflix as of January 1, 2025.

‘Zombieland’ (2009)

Speaking of zombie comedies, Shaun of the Dead often comes to mind first, but let’s not forget about Zombieland, an outstanding action comedy. This movie features Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Woody Harrelson in leading roles. In this story, a world overrun by zombies finds our protagonist Columbus, a timid Texan student, who has managed to survive so far by adhering to essential guidelines, like carrying only the bare necessities, steering clear of public restrooms, and employing “double taps” for good measure.

Ultimately, he chooses to journey to Ohio to check if his parents are still alive and encounters a ruthless zombie slayer en route to Florida. Additionally, he teams up with two young ladies who have news of a park free from zombies in California, specifically Los Angeles. The movie “Zombieland” is one of those peculiar yet entertaining films that you’ll always be glad you watched. However, don’t forget to catch it before it departs from Netflix on January 1st.
