As a long-time fan of “The Walking Dead,” I am beyond excited for the upcoming spin-off series, “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol.” Having followed Carol and Daryl’s journey since the beginning, it’s incredible to see their stories continue to unfold in such an engaging manner.
With the arrival of September and its cooler temperatures, AMC+ is set to introduce a few fresh television shows. Unlike other months, AMC+ doesn’t have an extensive lineup of series planned for release in the near future. However, every show that will debut on the platform next month is sure to keep viewers engaged and entertained.
With a fan favorite returning for a second season and a stranger than fiction docuseries heading to AMC+, viewers won’t want to miss what the streaming service plans to drop next month. However, given most of the shows lean more toward the spooky genre, those who prefer less gore and frights should probably steer clear of the streaming platform in the coming weeks. That being said, there’s still plenty of exciting entertainment available on the platform.
The Tailor of Sin City (Season 1)
Stream on September 12
In Sin City, a Tailor Rises: An Unscripted Series recounts the extraordinary tale of AJ Pratt, a skillful tailor from a humble background who, with the clandestine support of the mafia, transformed his ventures into a sensational drug and fashion business in Las Vegas during the 1970s. Remarkably, he forged an incredible bond with Pablo Escobar, the notorious Colombian drug kingpin, at the peak of his reign of terror.
According to the book “The Tailor: How I Dressed Elvis, Escobar, the Mob…and Became the Las Vegas King of Cocaine,” co-written by Sal Manna and AJ Pratt himself, the series follows Pratt’s complex relationships with the Mafia, Colombian cartel, FBI, and his seven wives. As Pratt climbed to fame, his descent was just as captivating. The show strives for authenticity, given Pratt’s reputation for keeping secrets. To understand the truth behind events from long ago, those closest to him try to piece together the puzzle. The Tailor of Sin City will be streaming on Sept. 12.
Z Nation (Full Series Premiere)
Stream on September 20
Debuting on Syfy in 2014, Z Nation initially received mixed responses upon its premiere but went on to air for five seasons. Soon, all seasons will be accessible on AMC+. The show revolves around a band of survivors living three years into a zombie outbreak who are tasked with transporting the sole known survivor of a zombie bite from New York to California. Prior to the apocalypse, Murphy (Keith Allan), an inmate at a naval prison in Maine, was unwittingly used for testing a vaccine against the emerging virus. Remarkably, he survived the experiment and managed to break free from the prison once society collapsed and the facility was left abandoned.
In the world where surviving multiple zombie attacks without becoming one sets you apart from others, Murphy possesses an extraordinary advantage. On his journeys, he stumbles upon a compact band of survivors headed by Lieutenant Roberta Warren (Kellita Smith). Upon discovering that his blood carries antibodies capable of saving mankind, they vow to escort him to the last operational Centers for Disease Control research lab in California. Despite this seeming blessing, Murphy harbors a troubling secret that could endanger everyone he encounters. Z Nation will be streaming on Sept. 20.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol
Stream on September 29
In the next installment of the Daryl Dixon standalone series titled “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol“, we delve into Carol’s (Melissa McBride) journey as she searches for her long-lost friend, Daryl (Norman Reedus). After being absent throughout the entire first season, Carol reappeared in the finale, driven by a desire to uncover Daryl’s whereabouts. However, unaware of this, Daryl had landed in France, which is where the zombie virus originated. As he grappled with understanding how he arrived there and why, he crossed paths with a determined, forward-thinking nun named Sister Isabelle Carriere (Clémence Poésy) and an intelligent young boy called Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi). While in their company, Daryl learns about Isabelle’s religious group’s belief that Laurent is destined to be the future Messiah, guiding humanity towards a new beginning.
During the initial season, Daryl comes across peculiar zombies and puzzling occurrences connected to Laurent’s powers. As the series progresses into its second season, the roads of Daryl and Carol grow increasingly separate. While Carol persists in her search for her friend, Daryl grapples with his choice at the end of Season 1 to remain in France. Meanwhile, Genet’s (Anne Charrier) nationalist group, Pouvoir, gains strength, eventually leading them on a head-on clash with the Union of Hope as both factions vie for their respective visions of France’s future. The Walking Dead: The Daryl Dixon Chronicles – Carol’s Tale premieres on Sept. 29.
