As a long-time enthusiast of both action-packed dramas and vibrant reality competitions, I’m thrilled to see two highly anticipated series gracing our screens this August.
Although Paramount+ might not often be ranked among leading streaming services, it consistently delivers a selection of shows that are great for binge-watching. Consequently, the new series joining the platform in the coming month is no exception. These upcoming shows may not appeal to everyone, but they’re certainly worth giving a try.
On Paramount+, you’ll find a diverse range of reality shows, military dramas, and kid-friendly animations, along with many other series. Although the selection may not be as extensive as some other streaming services, there will always be something new and interesting to keep viewers entertained. No matter one’s taste in television, Paramount+ is sure to have a show that catches their eye next month.
PD True (Season 1)
Stream on August 6
Based on the creators of “FBI True” and “Never Seen Again,” streaming now on Paramount+, “PD True” is a documentary series that delves into police cases narrated by the officers who investigated them. Unlike other investigative police documentaries, this latest series from the platform highlights how law enforcement personnel reacted to some of America’s most significant events. Consisting of ten episodes, the show explores how officers responded to incidents such as the mass shooting at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, a chilling subway shooting in New York City, the manhunt for notorious female serial killer Aileen Wuornos who targeted middle-aged men, and numerous others.
As a seasoned crime journalist with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’m always on the lookout for gripping stories that delve deep into the complexities of criminal investigations. The upcoming series “PD True” piqued my interest from the moment I heard about it. Having covered countless cases myself, I can appreciate the effort and dedication that goes into unraveling the intricacies of such mysteries.
Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Season 1)
Stream on August 9
Following the events depicted in the 2023 film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” the new Paramount+ Original series titled “Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” unfolds. This series focuses on Leonardo (Nicolas Cantu), Raphael (Brady Noon), Donatello (Micah Abbey), and Michelangelo (Shamon Brown Jr.), who are now teenagers living as superheroes in New York City. After their fierce encounter with Bishop (Alanna Ubach), a ruthless villain determined to eradicate all mutants, the turtle brothers experience a first in their lives – being separated and alone.
In this solo adventure as a gamer, I find myself stepping up to mete out justice all by my lonesome, facing brand-new trials that stretch the very bounds of my skills. Alone in the shadows, I’ll cross paths with fearsome adversaries like the aquatic mutants known as the East River Three. To survive, I’ll need to reconnect with old friends. But without my reliable team, the Turtles, I’ll learn what it truly means to stand alone. This thrilling series also features beloved characters from the franchise, such as Splinter (James Sie) and April O’Neil (Ayo Edebiri). Mark your calendars for Aug. 9 – Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is now streaming!
SEAL Team (Season 7)
Stream on August 11
In my enthusiasm for television dramas, I can’t help but express my love for “SEAL Team,” a gripping military series that chronicles the exploits of an exceptional Navy SEAL subunit, code-named Bravo Team. As the cream of the crop in the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, this elite team executes high-risk missions worldwide at a moment’s notice, a demanding lifestyle that strains both them and their loved ones. As we delve into its seventh and concluding season, the landscape of warfare is evolving, forcing Bravo Team to adapt swiftly.
As they confront challenges that test their resilience and family ties, their brotherhood will guide them through the journey that’s still to come. With their final mission approaching as part of Bravo Team, they recognize that their indestructible bond transcends the tasks they performed together. In the last season of SEAL Team, Jason, Ray Perry (Neil Brown Jr.), Sonny Quinn (A. J. Buckley), Brock Reynolds (Justin Melnick), and Lisa Davis (Toni Trucks) prepare for one last mission together before the series concludes. SEAL Team’s Season 7 premieres on Aug. 11.
