Start your engines! Season 2 of Peacock’s Twisted Metal series arrives Thursday, July 31.
Today, the official release date was unveiled in a short video teaser (watch below), focusing on the enigmatic character Calypso, played by Barry’s Anthony Carrigan. His desire for a grand entrance elicits both mockery and respect from John Doe, portrayed by Anthony Mackie from Captain America: Brave New World, and Quiet, who is Stephanie Beatriz from Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
In a statement, Michael Jonathan Smith, showrunner, writer, and executive producer of Cobra Kai, guarantees that the risks will reach unprecedented levels as our leading characters risk everything by participating in Calypso’s destructive car race competition.
Smith explained, “The reward? A sole wish, the deepest longing fulfilled.” However, he cautioned, “16 other competitors also have their own desires. The series boasts an extraordinary ensemble, featuring Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz, along with Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa (better known as Samoa Joe), portraying the beloved character Sweet Tooth. Additionally, Anthony Carrigan plays the renowned tournament emcee Calypso. This high-speed, side-splitting, exhilarating season is filled with unforgettable characters. Unfortunately, not all of them will make it through.

During an interview with NBC Insider in 2023, the Smith announced that Season 2 would introduce several well-known characters from the original Twisted Metal video games, such as Dollface (who was revealed to be John Doe’s long-lost sister at the end of Season 1), Axel, and Mr. Grimm.
He shared his anticipation for fans to witness these characters unfold and discover what makes them amusing and what causes their sorrow. He believes it will be an enjoyable experience to explore these personalities further. They have already introduced many of these characters – Preacher, Bloody Mary, John, Quiet, Watts, among others. It’s going to be intriguing to bring them all together at the tournament and observe their interactions. He is eager to see how Preacher responds to Bloody Mary or how Grimm interacts with Sweet Tooth. There are numerous exciting opportunities for character development that he is looking forward to exploring, as if it’s a fresh set of toys to play with.
As a fan, I’m thrilled to share that Season 2 has some amazing recurring guest stars lined up! Saylor Bell Curda from “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” is joining us as Mayhem. Lisa Gilroy, who shone in “Interior Chinatown”, will play Vermin. Richard de Klerk, known for his work on “Designated Survivor”, is set to be Mr. Grimm. Patty Guggenheim, star of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”, will bring Raven to life. Tiana Okoye, who made a mark in “The Good Place”, will take on the role of Dollface. The only question mark is Michael James Shaw from “The Walking Dead”, but I’d put my money on him embodying Axel!
