If you’re a fan of SYFY, it’s likely that you already know Melanie Scrofano quite well, as she portrayed the tough heroine in SYFY’s popular series Wynonna Earp for four well-loved seasons.
In the upcoming series titled “Revival” on SYFY, Scrofano will rejoin the cast. This show is an adaptation of the Image Comics horror series by Tim Seeley (writer) and Mike Norton (artist), which lasted 47 issues from 2012 to 2017. In this story, Scrofano portrays Dana Cypress, a rural Wisconsin police officer and single mother who finds herself investigating a murder in her small town where the deceased have mysteriously risen from their graves. Every resident, whether alive or “revived,” becomes a suspect in this intriguing mystery.

As the much-anticipated series “Revival” is set to premiere on SYFY next month, let’s delve deeper into Scrofano’s professional journey that has paved the way for this thrilling zombie expedition.
Revival star Melanie Scrofano’s career in film and television

Scrofano hails from Ottawa, Ontario, and kick-started her modeling career at the tender age of 13. It wasn’t until her agent thoughtfully suggested submitting her for roles that she ventured into acting. Her early television appearances include Isobel in Undressed (2002), Menard’s Girlfriend in Mob Stories (2003), and Marla in Naked Josh (2004). In film, she played Mani White in Baby Blues (2008), Nancy in A Good Meal (2009), and Gena in Saw VI (2009).
Emily Scrofano is particularly recognized for her leading part in SYFY’s Wynonna Earp, aired from 2016-2021 (and for directing the episode “Look at Them Beans”), where she portrayed the iconic character, the great-great-granddaughter of legendary Old West lawman Wyatt Earp. However, some might argue that her most memorable role was as Mrs. McMurray, the character who loved her gin and tonics, in Seasons 2–6 and 8–11 of the humorous Canadian series Letterkenny (2016–2023).
In addition to these roles, notable appearances in films and TV shows were made, such as October in “Pure Pwnage” (2010); Ann Roberts in “Citizen Gangster” (2011); Sarah in “The Conspiracy” (2012); Tia Tremblay in “The Listener” (2012-14); Rachel Adams in “Nurse 3D” (2013); Gail Timmins in “Wolves” (2014); Suzanna in “Gangland Undercover” (2015); Lisa Jordan in “Designated Survivor” (2016); Valentina Cosoleto in “Bad Blood” (2018); Emilie in “Ready or Not” (2019); Debbie in “The Silencing” (2020); Wendy in “The End of Sex” (2022); and Captain Marie Batel in “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” (2022-23).
As a gamer, I had the chance to reconnect with my fellow Earper, Tim Rozon, on SYFY’s popular series, SurrealEstate. In the episode titled “For Sale by Owner,” I took on the role of Harper North, and not just that, I also stepped behind the camera and directed four episodes! What a thrilling experience!
With the upcoming release of Revival on SYFY next month, she’ll find herself quite busy once more. This series also features David James Elliott (JAG), Andy McQueen (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Romy Weltman (Defiance) as Martha “Em” Cypress, the reanimated sister of Dana.
When does Revival premiere on SYFY?
On Thursdays starting June 12th at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on SYFY, there will be a revival taking place. Each new episode will air weekly, with the option to stream them exclusively on Peacock one week later.
