Ever since its debut in 2019, “The Morning Show,” featuring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, has skillfully balanced drama, satire, and humor. It tackles pertinent and profound issues within the American cultural milieu (and occasionally beyond) with subtle finesse. It’s not afraid to delve into the intricacies of its subjects, ensuring that its characters are anything but one-dimensional. Similar to many TV series, it experienced a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production for season 2 was already underway and scripts were written when everything came to a standstill.
Even though Season 2 debuted in September 2021, it took another two years for Season 3 to premiere in September 2023. This longer gap between seasons seems to be happening more frequently with television shows. With fans anxiously waiting for any updates about future seasons, hints are starting to surface as we get closer to a September 2025 release date.
As a movie enthusiast penning this update on June 2, 2025, I’m thrilled to share that “The Morning Show” is all set to grace our screens on Apple TV+, starting September 17, 2025. The article you see has been revamped to bring you the most current news about Season 4.
Who’ll Be Returning in The Morning Show Season 4?
Most of the Main Cast Will Return
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at the magnetic allure that “The Morning Show” consistently exudes. With Reese Witherspoon (portraying Bradley Jackson) spearheading the talented cast once more, it’s no wonder that industry heavyweights are drawn to this captivating series. In Seasons 1 and 2, Steve Carell (famous for “The Office”) brought his unique charm to the complex character of Mitch Kessler, the corrupt co-anchor who underwent an unexpected transformation before meeting his untimely end. Jack Davenport (known for roles in “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Why Women Kill”) graced our screens as Alex Levy’s former spouse, Jason Craig. Lastly, Billy Crudup (starring in “Big Fish”) continues to mesmerize us with his portrayal of Cory Ellison, the enigmatic CEO of UBA network. In Season 3, Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) joined the fray as Paul Marks, an unconventional love interest for Alex and a tech mogul reminiscent of Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg, who sought to acquire UBA.
Season 4 is set to bring even more sparkling newcomers to our screens, with Jeremy Irons, a renowned British actor known for movies like “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “The Watchmen”, joining the cast. At the age of 76, Irons will portray Alex’s father, Martin Levy. In June 2024, it was announced that Marion Cotillard, famous for films like “Inception”, had agreed to be part of Season 4, taking on the role of Celine Dumont, a shrewd operator from a prestigious European family. Coincidentally, around the same time, she played Bradley’s recurring love interest and experienced journalist, Laura Peterson, in Seasons 2 and 3.
About her new co-stars, Jennifer Aniston expressed, “It’s truly fortunate that talented individuals are eager to be a part of this series. To put it simply, Marion Cotillard is stunningly beautiful, and she’s also an exceptional human being. And Jeremy Irons… well, let me just say he’s such a treat! I can hardly believe it.” Besides Cotillard and Irons, Season 4 will also include notable actors like Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper, and Boyd Holbrook portraying Miles, Ben, and Brodie respectively.
The Morning Show Tackles Relevant Topics
It Often Reflect Vital Issues Affecting the Country Today
For the upcoming Season 4, it’s uncertain what themes will be explored, but it seems likely that they will reflect current events, particularly those from the past couple of years. Previous seasons have tackled significant social issues such as the #MeToo movement (Season 1), media cancel culture and the impact of Covid-19 (Season 2), and the influence of billionaire CEOs and the aftermath of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol (Season 3).
Clues about potential topics for Season 4 have surfaced on the internet over the past year, and it’s been hinted that one episode will be called “My Roman Empire.
Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt aims to maintain the show’s relevance by reflecting current societal issues. In an interview with Deadline, she explained, “We live in a period where truth is questionable and fluid. Therefore, I believe the contrast between the glossy, attractive, and seductive aspects of the show and the underlying tension is what makes it compelling.” She further discussed how emerging technologies like AI and widespread misinformation would be incorporated into the storyline. Stoudt hinted that as long as the world remains chaotic, there will always be a need for “The Morning Show.” Actor Mark Duplass (Charlie “Chip” Black) also suggested that the 2024 election could potentially play a role in the series.
How Did The Morning Show Season 3 End?
The Last Season Finished With a Bang
Typically, The Morning Show concludes each season with a dramatic finish. Last year, they exploded everything in a massive explosion, leaving everyone wondering how the team will reunite and what that reunion will look like. In Season 3, Alex’s relationship with Paul flourished and then disintegrated, Bradley hid her brother’s involvement in the January 6th insurrection, and it was revealed that Stella was the student whom Paul exploited for her innovative idea. The final episode saw Alex halting Paul’s destruction of UBA, proposing a merger deal between UBA and NBN instead. Meanwhile, Bradley chose to confess to the FBI about her actions. Essentially, all slates have been erased, leaving endless possibilities for the UBA cast and crew.
It seems doubtful that Hamm’s character will reappear, creating more opportunities for the newcomer, played by Aaron Pierre, to expand their roles. Joining Cotillard and Irons, Pierre will portray Miles, a renowned artist navigating through New York’s high society circles. With so many prominent personalities involved, there’s sure to be plenty of drama unfolding for the news team. Furthermore, there may be a time leap between seasons, leaving us uncertain about where these characters find themselves when they reappear on our screens.
The Newest Season Will Feature a Significant Time Jump
But the Show’s Core Remains the Same
I’m thrilled to share that Apple has just unveiled more insights about our upcoming season! As a devoted fan, this tidbit is keeping my anticipation alive until we meet again in September. The fourth installment is set to unfold in Spring 2024, marking a two-year leap since Season 3’s events. In the wake of the UBA-NBN merger, our team – Alex, Bradley, and the rest of us – will have to adapt to new responsibilities and navigate fresh office politics.
Beyond its news-inspired narratives, The Morning Show will persistently explore the primary tale, the romantic relationship between the main characters, Alex and Bradley. As showrunner Charlotte Stoudt explained, “The essence of The Morning Show lies in their dynamic and how they influence each other.” The fresh actors and narrative elements introduced in Season 4 are expected to mold this central relationship, affecting the way the two women respond and affect one another.
When and Where Will the Morning Show Season 4 Release?
Given that Season 4 has been confirmed as early as April 2023, there’s a strong chance fans might learn soon about the potential for a fifth season. Viewers can anticipate further development in the relationship between Aniston and Witherspoon’s characters. Since both are not only actors but also producers on the show, it seems unlikely their stories will conclude anytime soon. Interestingly, these two actresses once portrayed sisters in the popular sitcom “Friends.” Stoudt from The Hollywood Reporter stated, “The show is essentially a love story between these women… We’ll find a way for them to be in the same space eventually!” This will mark Stoudt’s second season as showrunner, taking over from Kerry Ehrin (the show’s creator) who was in charge during Seasons 1 and 2.
As of now, there isn’t a trailer available for Season 4 of “The Morning Show”. However, fans can take comfort in the knowledge that filming has been completed, and Apple has officially announced the release date as September 17, 2025. During production of Season 3, Stoudt didn’t have confirmation for a Season 4 renewal. Therefore, it’s plausible that the finale will provide some form of resolution or even hints for future seasons. In her words, “Regardless of the show’s future, when making any season, you aim to give some narrative closure. But, even if it’s the last season, you don’t want everything to be neatly tied up. So I would approach it like any other season, leaving some things open and resolving others.
