As a seasoned God of War fanatic with countless hours spent hacking and slashing my way through Norse mythology, I must say, the DLC armours for Ragnarok have me absolutely thrilled! The thought of pre-ordering or buying the deluxe edition just to get my hands on these bad boys is a no-brainer.
Pre-ordering or purchasing the Deluxe Edition of God of War Ragnarok grants you exclusive access to DLC armor right off the bat. This unique armor can be equipped early in the game, offering an immediate boost to your stats. Here’s a breakdown on how to obtain it and its features.
What are the DLC armours?
There are two DLC armour sets available in the game:
- Risen Snow – Pre-ordering or Digital Deluxe edition
- Darkdale – Digital Deluxe edition
With the “Risen Snow” gear set, you receive a breastplate, gauntlets, and a belt for Kratos, in addition to an outfit for Atreus. The armor pieces for Kratos provide substantial enhancements to strength and defense, along with improved chances of good fortune.
The breastplate possesses a unique power known as Risen Might, allowing Kratos a potential increase in strength and enhanced resistance against being staggered while hurling foes aloft. Similarly, additional armor components enhance the stun effect inflicted on airborne adversaries.
With the Darkdale Collection, you receive a complete Kratos armor set, a fresh tunic for Atreus, and enhancements for both the Leviathan Axe (grip) and Blades of Chaos (handles). The Darkdale chest armor features an ability called Enraged Slayer, which recharges your Rage and Health when you secure kills while in Spartan Rage mode.
The complete collection offers an enhancement in power, defense, and runes, along with boosting Rage accumulation when slaying adversaries affected by status effects during runic assaults. The Leviathan axe handle triggers shockwaves upon killing enemies using Frost Awakened strikes, and it also rejuvenates the Frost Awakened state on the axe.
In a similar fashion, using the Darkdale grips on the Blades of Chaos enhances Flame Whiplash finishes to produce a shockwave and intensify the burning effect.
How to get DLC armour
Instead of starting with the DLC armor already on or in your inventory, you will need to retrieve them yourself. Fortunately, it won’t take long before you can get your hands on them.
Approximately an hour into the game, you will encounter Brok and Sindri’s residence. At your convenience, make your way towards Brok’s counter. On the right side of this counter, you will find a chest.
Open up this treasure chest, and you’ll discover both the Darkdale Collection and the Risen Snow Assortment within. Once you’ve taken them out, you can instantly wear any item from either collection right away and start enjoying the benefits immediately.
