Previously this month, TopMob announced that following the remarkable achievements of 3 Idiots and PK, Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani will collaborate again on a slice-of-life drama, which is expected to begin filming at the end of 2025. Since then, they have officially confirmed that their upcoming project is a biopic about the life of Dadasaheb Phalke, with Aamir Khan portraying the ‘founder of Indian Cinema’. Now, we’ve learned exclusively that Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are aiming for a Christmas 2026 release date for their next film.
As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share a piece of exciting news! Time and again, the magical duo of Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani have redefined cinematic excellence during the festive Christmas weekend, breaking box office records. They’re set to continue this tradition with their upcoming film, aiming for a release in the extended holiday season. Production officially begins in October 2025, running through April 2026, before diving into an extensive post-production phase. Preparations for this as-yet-unnamed masterpiece have already kicked off!
The plan is to authentically bring back the feel of the 1800s and 1900s, aiming for perfection, and the initial planning phase has commenced. In fact, several costumes are being designed for Aamir Khan, who as a meticulous actor, will also attend acting workshops to convincingly portray Dadasaheb Phalke. For both Aamir and director Rajkumar Hirani, the film is a tribute to the pioneer who initiated cinema in India.
