EXCLUSIVE: Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif got ‘emotionally worked up’ while shooting Namastey London’s patriotic scene, recalls Vipul Shah

As a die-hard fan of Bollywood and particularly of Akshay Kumar, I must say that the making of Namastey London was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The behind-the-scenes story of the emotional scene where Akshay and Katrina delivered their powerful dialogues about India’s rich history is truly captivating.

The movie “Namastey London,” featuring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, is among the top Bollywood romantic comedies. One memorable moment in this film involves a patriotic scene where Akshay speaks passionately to a British man about India’s rich history. In an interview with TopMob, director Vipul Amrutlal Shah shared that both Akshay and Katrina became quite emotional during the shooting of this particular scene.

During an interview with TopMob, filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah disclosed that the final version of the scene was settled on the day of shooting itself. He discussed the responses of actors Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif upon reading the finished script. According to Vipul, “Akshay and Katrina had already gone through the script and knew about this particular scene. I had been telling them not to focus too much on the dialogues, as I was planning to give them a superior scene. So when they read it, they exclaimed, ‘Vipul, this is fantastic! It’s sensational and is bound to be a massive hit!'”

In simpler terms, Vipul explained to the pair, “I asked them to keep things straightforward. No overacting, please. Speak politely, and I believe it will work. And that’s exactly how Akshay and Katrina handled it.”

The director added that they concluded the scene very quickly. He said, “I finished the entire shoot of Akshay and Katrina’s dialogue part in less than 2-3 hours because they were so emotionally worked up.”

He stated that no improvisations were done by the actors within this particular scene, as he did not permit it.
