EXCLUSIVE: Akshay Kumar says Tom and Jerry is ‘not comedy’ but ‘violence’; reveals taking inspiration for action scenes from cartoon

As an ardent fan of Akshay Kumar, I must say his unique perspectives never cease to amaze me! In an industry where many would label Tom and Jerry as a classic example of comedy, our action hero sees it differently – as a showcase of action and violence! This just goes to show that Akshay’s life experience is not only filled with high-octane stunts but also a keen eye for the subtle nuances in cartoons.

Akshay Kumar is getting ready for the debut of his movie, Khel Khel Mein, coming out in 2024 for Independence Day. The trailer hints at a thrilling journey filled with humor and hidden surprises. In an unique conversation with TopMob, Akshay offered a fresh perspective on the well-known cartoon Tom and Jerry, labeling it more as action rather than comedy. He also mentioned that he drew inspiration from it for numerous action scenes.

In a special interview, Akshay Kumar and the cast of the upcoming film “Khel Khel Mein” shared insights with TopMob. Among various topics discussed, Fardeen Khan expressed his fondness for the classic Tom and Jerry animated series as one of his preferred comedic works.

Akshay interjected, “Not comedy, no. Tom and Jerry is action, it’s filled with violence.” He went on to reveal that many of the action sequences in his films were inspired by scenes from Tom and Jerry. “Let me share a little secret,” he said, “I’ve stolen many action ideas straight from Tom and Jerry, including that helicopter scene.”

Apart from mentioning other sources, he admitted that National Geographic has been an inspiration for him, saying, “National Geographic is another source that I’ve drawn inspiration from. It’s amazing to witness the action there – even Tom and Jerry pales in comparison with what they show!”
