Not long after, PVRInox, one of the leading movie exhibition chains, initiated a legal action against Maddock Films, demanding Rs 60 crore in compensation for contract breach and requesting a halt on the film’s digital presentation.

A source with knowledge of the situation has informed us, “The court has made its decision in the Maddock Films vs PVRInox Cinemas lawsuit. The film Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, is now scheduled to hit cinemas on May 23, 2025. Maddock Films aims to restart its promotional activities from May 15.
It’s worth noting that the court’s decision could potentially influence when Bhool Chuk Maaf becomes available on streaming platforms. Contrary to the typical eight-week digital release window after a Hindi film’s theatrical debut, Bhool Chuk Maaf is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in merely two weeks—on June 6, 2025. This timeline, however, has not been independently verified and there may be changes to this digital window. Both parties involved in the dispute have agreed to comply with the court’s balanced decision. However, it appears that the two-week OTT window for Bhool Chuk Maaf could be an exception due to the court order for Hindi feature films, while the eight-week window remains unchanged for all other films.
