The Indian Film Industry is thriving on series of movies, as recognizable titles are drawing larger crowds to cinemas. With Kesari 2 appearing to become a success tale, industry experts anticipate Raid 2 will have a strong opening at the box office. Housefull 5 and Sitaare Zameen Par are also predicted to shine at the box-office this season. As the competition heats up at the cinemas this summer, TopMob has learned that three additional franchise films are in the works.
Based on reports from individuals involved in the production process, director Sujoy Ghosh has initiated the scriptwriting for Kahaani 2, with actress Vidya Balan set to star as the main character. “The Kahaani series is well-regarded, and Sujoy is working diligently to create a storyline that matches the tension of the previous films in the franchise,” shared a source. “Vidya has agreed to be part of the film, but she’s currently waiting for Sujoy to finalize the screenplay.
In addition, director Vikas Bahl is also developing a follow-up to his successful film Queen, starring Kangana Ranaut as the main character. A script for Queen 2 has reportedly been created by Vikas, but there are ongoing discussions about the rights to the title since the original producers no longer operate as a single entity. If an agreement can’t be reached on the title, it is possible that the film will be produced under a new name while keeping the same cast members. Kangana and Vikas have already discussed the script for Queen 2.
In development for a sequel is the David Dhawan comedy, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2, where the original movie starred Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra. However, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has plans to create Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 with three rising stars instead. At present, the script for MSK 2 is being written, and whether it goes into production hinges on how well the script turns out. If Sajid approves of the script, casting will commence; otherwise, the project will be postponed. The aim is to produce another comedic tale of mistaken identities featuring three main characters.
