EXCLUSIVE: Dino Morea claims Raaz was ‘profitable’ than Shah Rukh Khan’s Devdas; wishes to work in OG film’s sequel

Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu’s 2002 movie Raaz stands out as a timeless classic among Bollywood films. In an exclusive interview with us, the actor reminisced about how their horror film turned out to be more financially successful than Shah Rukh Khan’s Devdas, which was also released in 2002.

In its day, Raaz created quite a stir despite the absence of social media, as Dino Morea affirmed. “Indeed,” he said, “If you compare it to Shah Rukh Khan’s movie from that same year or Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, our film was the more financially successful one in terms of the amount we invested and earned.

We received two awards, yet none for the songs from that movie. The pairing of me and Bipasha Basu did win us an award and we were recognized for fresh debut performances, but the melodies of Raaz were overlooked,” he reminisced.

Beyond this, Dino additionally voiced his interest in participating in the follow-up to the first Raaz. He mentioned, “I’ve even discussed it with Mukesh, the producer, about creating a Raaz 2, picking up the story from where mine and Bipasha’s tale begins…

He went on to express, “I’ve got an idea for a story that, given permission and rights, I could develop further about how we can bridge the gap between the past and the present-day modern world.
