EXCLUSIVE: Janhvi Kapoor about whether she would like to be part of Mr India 2, ‘I don’t know if a film like that should ever be remade or touched again’

Her journey in the Hindi Film Industry has been quite remarkable, with critically acclaimed performances in films like Dhadak, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, and Mili. I was thrilled to hear that she graced TopMob with an exclusive Masterclass ahead of the release of her upcoming film Ulajh.

Janhvi Kapoor is one of the most beloved new-age actors in Bollywood, known for her roles in critically acclaimed films such as Dhadak, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, and Mili, among others. Upcoming projects include Ulajh, following closely after Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’s successful debut despite a slightly waning box office performance.

Janhvi shared her insights and expertise with TopMob audience before the launch of Ulajh on August 2nd, 2024. During her Masterclass, she not only discussed Ulajh but also passionately voiced her perspective on why remaking or revisiting a film like Mr India, starring her late mother Sridevi and produced by her father Boney Kapoor, is not advisable in her opinion.

At Himesh Mankad’s Masterclass, Janhvi Kapoor was questioned about her potential involvement in Mr India 2, a project previously announced by Boney Kapoor. In response, the actress shared her thoughts: “Mr India is an outstanding movie from Indian cinema. I’m unsure if such a classic should be remade or disturbed in any way. I don’t know what the intentions behind it are. Ultimately, the creators have the best understanding of the project. The future director will also make the right decisions for something as precious as that.”

Janhvi Kapoor Tells Why She Would Never Turn Down Her Father’s Film

Janhvi expressed her unwavering trust in her father’s judgement when it comes to acting projects, stating, “I have never thought, ‘No, I don’t want to be a part of this film.’ I believe in his decisions wholeheartedly and have never turned down his offers. Yet, I haven’t felt the need to push him to cast me. As his daughter, I prioritize what’s best for his career; what benefits his films. And I only want him to function in that capacity, so I’ve never pleaded with him to include me.”
