Mirzapur on Amazon Prime is a highly popular series that has captured the hearts of viewers, who can’t help but rave about it and its characters. In particular, Ali Fazal’s character Guddu Pandit has amassed a dedicated fan base. If you’ve watched the show, you might have taken notice of his muscular physique. Rahul Bhatt shared some insights with us in an exclusive interview on how he helped train Ali for his role and the efforts that went into making him look as impressive as he did on screen.
Rahul Bhatt shared that Excel Entertainment proposed to him that Ali Fazal would portray a character who is both a bodybuilder and a gangster. Discussing the training regime, Rahul Bhatt’s sister Alia described it as keeping things straightforward, with exercises like squats and deadlifts focused on building his strength. Since gangsters don’t typically need to have an extremely muscular physique, they aimed to give him a slightly intimidating look instead.
In his own words, Rahul admitted that he didn’t focus much on calorie management because he wanted to maintain a large physique. “He provided him with protein shakes, but his training was intense and he also sustained some injuries during it. However, he trained diligently. He was a highly professional individual.
Bhatt was asked about a striking similarity between his walking style and Ali Fazal’s walk in Mirzapur. In response, he stated, “You should ask him yourself, but my sister noted that he seemed to pick up on my ‘vibe.’ Pooja ma’am observed this, which means it’s something about the way I carry myself.
For those who may be unfamiliar, there’s an intriguing fact about the series “Mirzapur” that many fans might not know. During the promotions for Season 2, actor Ali Fazal disclosed a fascinating detail. When he was initially offered a role in the show, it wasn’t as Guddu Pandit, but instead for the part of Munna Tripathi, the villainous character portrayed by Divyenndu.
Initially, he was auditioned for the role of Guddu, but instead, they tested him, and surprisingly, he resonated deeply with the character, which later resulted in a captivating on-screen portrayal. Similarly, Divyenndu, who played Munna Tripathi, was initially considered for Bablu Pandit, another significant character in the first season, a role that eventually went to Vikrant Massey.
