EXCLUSIVE: Nani reveals why he was wrong choice as lead actor in Ante Sundaraniki, says ‘I think we didn’t see the film in the most…’

As an ardent fan who has followed Nani’s illustrious career since his debut, I must say his recent revelation during the Masterclass interview about Ante Sundaraniki resonated deeply with me. It was a candid confession that echoed the sentiments of many fans who felt he might have been miscast in the film. His humility and introspection are truly admirable, especially for someone as accomplished as him.

In a special interview with TopMob, actor Nani, preparing for the premiere of Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, discussed various topics, including his previous remark concerning his casting in Ante Sundaraniki.

In response to the topic, Nani expressed, “Although I didn’t explicitly state it, I had certain expectations. Given my extensive filmography and the recognition of my abilities, the intricate and multi-layered storyline of Ante Sundaraniki seemed perfect for someone like me who can blend in subtly.”

“You get the sense, ‘Who is this person… ah, it’s Sundar.’ He’s someone worth delving into more as you progress. But, you’ve already formed an expectation about him – you think he’ll either excel or entertain us in some way.” He went on to say.

He additionally mentioned, “During my comedy days, it was quite successful, and we trimmed the trailer, adding all the entertaining elements to it. I believe that the anticipation for a light-hearted film after a long time got muddled with more emotion, drama, and other aspects. I think we didn’t experience the movie as a natural progression of the story because an actor brings in certain expectations.”

“I’ve given my all for Sundar, and I’m content with that. I don’t have any regrets, and I enjoy thinking of myself as being like Sundar. If we had actors who could seamlessly become a part of the story, the narrative, especially the childhood segments, might have resonated even more with audiences,” he summed up.
