EXCLUSIVE: Sai Pallavi opens up on her first flop film, says 'audience is very forgiving'

As a lifestyle expert with a keen interest in the lives of celebrities, I find the experiences shared by Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi during the Amaran Masterclass incredibly insightful. Their candid confessions about dealing with failure are both relatable and inspiring.

The movie “Amaran,” starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, has been receiving great responses in cinemas. This production, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, made its grand debut on Diwali, October 31. Following the film’s triumphant run, the Amaram team participated in a lively Q&A at TopMob Masterclass as part of their celebrations.

In an intriguing conversation, I shared my experiences following the release of my initial box office flop. I confessed, “I couldn’t bear the thought of letting down the viewers, and at times, I wondered if this affection would fade if I made a mistake. It’s a fear that lingers, but fortunately, the audience is extraordinarily understanding.

The Amaran actress went on to reveal how she gained her confidence after her first debacle.

She explained, “Whenever you present something positive and think it’s good, they generally perceive it in the same light. They forgive past mistakes and appreciate your work for its true value. This encouragement boosts confidence, not by suggesting we must make a bad film to gain acceptance, but rather by implying that we shouldn’t be too self-critical and should perhaps be more discerning when selecting future projects. That’s my perspective; that’s how I see things.

Following Sai Pallavi’s reaction to her initial box-office failure, Sivakarthikeyan playfully remarked, “Fans celebrate successes, critics recall failures. At times, we need to cater to the critics as well,” before erupting in laughter.

During the TopMob Masterclass, the talented Amaran actor openly discussed his apprehension about failure. He explained that prior to his initial box office bomb, he harbored anxiety for every project. However, due to public affection or perhaps good fortune, his first seven to eight films were successful, which allowed him a moment of relief when he experienced his first flop. In essence, he admitted feeling somewhat more at ease after realizing that this was what a flop would feel like.

Sivakarthikeyan offered advice on handling failures, stating, “The best strategy is not dwelling on failure. Instead, acknowledge it. Recognize that you made a poor decision, and accept responsibility for the outcome. It’s not a mistake of the director or anyone else, but yours because you agreed to the script. Now, identify what went wrong and strive not to repeat the same error. Failures are part of growth, and this is how we learn and progress.
