As an ardent fan who has witnessed Shah Rukh Khan‘s reign over Bollywood for decades, I can confidently say that his upcoming lineup is nothing short of a dream come true! With three action-packed releases already under his belt and more on the horizon, it seems like 2025 will be another golden year for King Khan.
In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan dominated the box office with his three movies, Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki earning approximately Rs 2500 crore at the global box office. Since then, there’s been a lot of excitement about Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming films. TopMob has exclusively reported that SRK has chosen two action-packed movies for the big screen – Sujoy Ghosh’s directorial, King, co-directed by Siddharth Anand, and the YRF Spy Universe film, Pathaan 2. Now, we have learned that Shah Rukh Khan plans to have a lineup of three films planned out before he begins shooting for King.
Based on insider reports, it appears that Shah Rukh Khan has been reviewing numerous scripts recently, intending to commit to another movie, ideally outside the action genre. There are rumors that he is in discussions with directors Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan for a high-profile adventure film. A source close to the production shared, “Shah Rukh Khan has met with many filmmakers in the past few months, considering their proposals. However, nothing truly piqued his interest. Now, Shah Rukh Khan is in discussions with the team behind ‘Stree 2,’ which includes Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan.
The report continued by stating, “Amar and Dinoo are planning an action-packed movie for SRK, and they’re considering teaming up on this project. This film won’t be connected to the Stree Universe, but will instead launch a new one. So far, two or three meetings have occurred, but Shah Rukh Khan has yet to make a decision regarding this project. More conversations are expected in the future before he decides whether or not to participate. Separately, SRK remains in contact with Raj and DK about their comedic action thriller, as he feels drawn to the concept and is eager to work with them, provided there are minor adjustments to address any issues. Additionally, he’s discussing potential action films with some southern filmmakers, but nothing has been finalized yet.
The planned shooting for “King” starts from January 2025 and finishes by mid-2026, while Aditya Chopra aims to begin filming “Pathaan 2” towards the end of 2025 or early 2026. It appears Shah Rukh Khan is considering working on a modern commercial project amidst these two action-packed movies. He’s expected to make a decision regarding Amar Kaushik, Raj & DK, or another option by the end of this year, according to the source.
Regarding the sequel to Pathaan 2, producer Aditya Chopra is aiming to finalize a director for this significant Spy Universe Saga by February or March 2025. By that time, he should have completed the scriptwriting process alongside his team, Shridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala. If the collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan, Amar Kaushik, and Dinesh Vijan materializes, it would bring together the leading figures of the Rs 500 crore film club.
