EXCLUSIVE: SS Rajamouli decides to put an end to “Two Part” format of storytelling with Mahesh Babu’s next; Reason revealed

For several months now, TopMob has consistently provided updates about director SS Rajamouli‘s upcoming film with Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Priyanka Chopra in the main roles. As we previously reported, this movie is set in Kashi and is scheduled for release in Summer 2027, following a lengthy production schedule lasting until mid-2026. Although filming is currently underway at full pace, TopMob has another intriguing piece of news concerning SSMB 29 – according to our trusted sources, director SS Rajamouli has chosen to tell the forest adventure story in one part instead of dividing it into two parts as initially planned.

According to reports, renowned director SS Rajamouli strongly believes in defying conventions and crafting stories that captivate audiences. He pioneered the trend of telling one tale across two films with Bahubali, and now aims to shake up the industry by presenting a story as grand as SSMB 29 in a single installment. Rajamouli feels that many filmmakers have misused the two-part format, stretching projects for financial reasons. To break free from this pattern, he is redesigning his script into a single-film narrative structure, similar to RRR, which runs for approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. This decision was made well in advance, with the screenplay’s structure in mind. Rajamouli intends to maintain a balanced start, middle, and end without needlessly elongating the story.

According to our sources, SSR’s upcoming movie might be his longest yet, but it promises to keep viewers engaged from start to finish. This story is intricate, blending elements of reality, mythology, fiction, and adventure. He has already filmed some crucial scenes, and he plans to reveal the film with a 2-minute promotional video featuring movie clips soon. The post-production work for this announcement trailer is currently being worked on.
