As an avid follower of Bollywood cinema, I find myself utterly captivated by the ingenious mind of Amar Kaushik, the mastermind behind the Maddock Supernatural Universe. His ability to weave intricate and interconnected stories is nothing short of extraordinary. It’s as if he’s spun a magical web that binds these films together, creating a cinematic universe reminiscent of the Marvel or DC worlds.
Amar Kaushik, famed for helming movies such as Stree and Bhediya, is recognized not only for his directorial work but also for establishing the Maddock Supernatural Universe in Bollywood. In a recent conversation, he delved into the creation process of this cinematic universe and shared some of the obstacles he encountered. Additionally, Amar highlighted that weaving interconnected stories demanded meticulous planning, which was akin to managing several projects at once.
In an exclusive chat with TopMob, Amar Kaushik shared insights into the development of the Maddock Supernatural Universe. He explained that while they were in the process of creating Bhediya, or possibly Stree 2 or Munjja, they had a sense that something was about to unfold.

Instead of planning to connect movies or characters after receiving the script, they choose to explore different storylines and continue certain villains as they go along, wherever it feels appropriate for the narrative.
In his discussion, Amar brought up the instance where Munjya initially intended to select a child for the main role, but eventually opted to employ Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI), finding that aspect particularly challenging.
He mentioned that the initial plan was to hire a young boy for the character of Munjya. However, he suggested that they should opt for Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) instead, as they intend to utilize this for upcoming movies.
When creating a cinematic universe, it’s crucial to keep in mind the broader perspective of each individual film. It struck him as though he wasn’t just making one movie, but rather contributing to five or six films instead.
Kaushik remembered feeling thrilled when film producer Dinesh Vijan hinted at the possibility of an interconnected universe for these movies. As a child, he had been captivated by the intricate connections in the Nagraj comic books.
During the production of “Bhediya”, an idea struck him – why not incorporate Abhishek Banerjee’s character into the film? Since then, everything started to shift.
In the interview, the director emphasized the importance of teamwork, exchanging ideas with his colleagues. Additionally, Aditya Sarpotdar, the director from Munjya, added that they all have similar tastes in films and enjoy discussing intriguing film theories through shared video content.
Following the triumph of Stree 2, it’s clear that the Maddock Supernatural Universe is expanding even more, and we might soon see Bhediya 2 added to the lineup.
