As an ardent fan of Suriya, I can hardly contain my excitement for his upcoming movie, Kanguva! Three years is an eternity in Suriya-land, and it feels like a lifetime since we last saw our beloved star on the big screen. But fear not, fellow fans, for Suriya himself has assured us that this wait will be worth it!
The upcoming film titled “Kanguva,” starring Suriya, is preparing for its grand premiere in cinemas on November 14, 2024. Directed by Siva, the team behind the movie has been busy making preparations for its release. In a recent exclusive interview with TopMob, both Suriya and director Siva shared some insights about the film.
In the Masterclass interview, Suriya was questioned about how he felt that Kanguva marked his return to the stage after a hiatus of three years.
In reply, Suriya expressed, “It’s fantastic! I’ve truly missed them. To be with them, to amuse them, to appear on screen, and to meet them in theatres is incredibly significant for everyone involved.
The actor went on to say, “It’s nearly 27 years since I last had such a break, and I’m genuinely excited about Kanguva. We embarked on Kanguva with the aim of providing a unique theatrical experience, and it’s been a marvelous two-year journey. This movie is for our audience. For an exceptional theatrical experience, I have no doubt that the wait will be worthwhile.
During an interview about the film and his acting career, Suriya was queried on his feelings regarding portraying a dual role in two distinct time periods. In reply, he expressed, “From the very start of the script reading, it became clear that we were venturing into a unique realm. While we’ve enjoyed films like Baahubali, RRR, and Kalki, I believe Kanguva could mark Tamil cinema’s first major stride in this genre.
In comparison to other languages, I believe it’s past due for Tamil to embark on something of such magnitude. As far as I know, no one has ever portrayed this world in a Tamil movie before,” the actor added.

Later on, Suriya elaborated on the fact that Tamil literature is over 2,500 years old, highlighting his ability to resonate with the narrative’s feelings even though it has a historical background. Moreover, he disclosed that the film leans heavily on visuals, music, and rhythm rather than dialogues to progress the plot.
