EXCLUSIVE: When Salman Khan had special suggestion for Shefali Jariwala’s sensational Kaanta Laga music video directors

In 2002, the lively dance video “Kaanta Laga” catapulted Shefali Jariwala into stardom almost immediately. The song portrayed her as a spirited and rule-breaking young woman who lived life carefree. Despite its popularity, it caught the attention of Salman Khan, who wasn’t initially enamored by it. As a result, he reached out to the creators to offer his expert guidance.

During an exclusive interview with TopMob’s Hindi Rush, filmmakers Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru reminisced about Salman Khan’s response to Shefali Jariwala’s performance in Kaanta Laga. Vinay then shared that following the video’s release, “A prominent actor contacted us. He said, ‘I am clarifying this for you, Radhika and Vinay, please don’t engage in such sexy work, it’s not appropriate.’

Afterward, Sapru attempted to clarify to the Dabangg star that it wasn’t about the sensual song, and they never considered it in such a manner. It was merely an innocent action from their perspective. When prompted if Salman was the one who made the comment, Radhika confirmed, “Indeed. He complimented you on having pure, noble minds. Then we had to clarify the situation to him. He acknowledged and replied, ‘What are you thinking about up there?’

For those not in the know, Kaanta Laga was a popular remix that stirred excitement within the music scene. Notably, Radhika and Vinay conceived this remix concept following their visit with the respected figure in Bollywood, commonly known as bhaijaan.

In the same interview, Vinay Sapru continued to elaborate that they had been crafting numerous melodious tunes by the renowned singer Falguni Pathak, among others. Yet, they grew tired of repeating the same tasks and craved for something fresh. One day, during a visit to Salman’s place, they noticed he was grooving to the rhythm of a Kishore Kumar song being played on Jhankaar Beats, which sparked their desire for change.

According to Sapru, the idea for creating music in this genre originated from an event involving Salman sir. He explained that he and Radhika had a conversation about how if such a big superstar is engaging in exercise related to this kind of music, then they should follow suit as well.
