Prior to gaining recognition as an actor, Shahid Kapoor initially entered the entertainment world by appearing in a music video, which is not widely known. In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru shared their story of discovering Kapoor for Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra. They also mentioned that every take he performed was so perfect that the editors found it difficult to choose which one to use. In fact, Rao predicted at the time that Kapoor would become a superstar.
Initially, Radhika and Vinay envisioned a scenario where they needed a charming young boy who would later be transformed or affected by a beautiful woman during the song performance.
Following some internal deliberations and internal procedures, they were reminded externally about Shiamak Davar, a singer they had previously introduced. They learned that Shiamak had found an ideal match for the position – a student from his dance classes.

When they went to Shiamak’s classes, Shahid Kapoor was dancing from behind, which is when Vinay Sapru joined in the proceedings.
When visiting Shiamak’s classes, it was Shahid Kapoor who danced behind them, and it was at this point that Vinay Sapru got involved in the activities.
Later on, Shahid crossed paths with Neelima Azeem, his mother, and Vinay in his office. At that point, Rao wasn’t part of the situation yet, but Vinay gave him a call to share the exciting news – they had located the individual they were seeking. He casually added that the boy was Shahid, son of Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem.
Rao reminisced about their initial encounter with Shahid, commenting that he was so adorable that if she had been a young girl back then, she probably wouldn’t have been able to take her eyes off him the entire day.
She highly commended his dancing abilities, mentioning how each take provided by the actor in the movie ‘Farzi’ was impeccable during the editing phase, causing editors to struggle in selecting the best shots since all were pristine. Impressed by this, Rao and Sapru instantly recognized his talent, exclaiming, “He’s a superstar in the making!
The directors recognized that Shahid’s performances were exceptional in every scene, so they made the decision to craft his character’s tale as a tragic one, with the boy ultimately losing the girl. After finishing the editing process, they chose to film an additional shot depicting Shahid walking off, followed by a dog running after him, highlighting his endearing qualities.
Rao explained that the shot was a last-minute idea, since they thought Shahid’s charm necessitated it. Moreover, he emphasized that besides his endearing charm, Shahid is an incredibly talented actor.
