As a passionate gamer and design enthusiast, I can’t help but be thrilled by the news of Habitat’s 60-year anniversary celebration at London’s Design Museum. Having grown up surrounded by my family’s collection of Habitat homewares, I’ve always been captivated by their unique ability to transform ordinary living spaces into exciting settings.
For six decades, Habitat has been committed to bringing great design to everyone. Founded in the 1960s, this British homeware retailer established its reputation by offering European-inspired shopping for home essentials. Through their unique selection of items, they transformed ordinary living spaces into captivating environments.
As a gamer and huge fan of Habitat, I’m thrilled to be part of this exciting moment in their history as they mark a major milestone anniversary. And what better way to celebrate than by taking a journey through time at London’s Design Museum? This new installation series, “Changing Spaces: 60 Years of Design with Habitat,” will give us an up-close look at the various design trends and groundbreaking innovations that have shaped Habitat over the decades. Using interactive displays and showcasing some of their most iconic homeware pieces, we’ll get a clear picture of how Habitat has evolved and left its mark on the design world. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience!
Visitors can discover five distinct areas of the museum, where they’ll encounter the installation series. The journey begins at the main atrium and continues outdoors. Kickstarting the experience is an artistic presentation, titled “Create,” featuring an engaging activity inspired by Sivia Kamodyová’s intricately designed Radica ceramic plates. Additionally, visitors can explore a historical timeline of Habitat’s 60-year evolution in the “Connect” section. Transitioning from past to present, “Transform” is where the power of lighting takes center stage.
As a gamer, I’m excited about what lies ahead for Habitat’s “Rest” and “Play” displays. In the future, these areas will showcase how Habitat’s design objects remain relevant in our modern world by enhancing our quality of life in the digital age. In the “Rest” zone, you can relax and enjoy the soft textures and furnishings. On the other hand, “Play” invites you to engage and experiment with the new 60 Years of Design Collection through interactive design.
For home decor enthusiasts eager to discover more about Habitat’s brand values, mark your calendars for an exclusive evening event at the Design Museum. In collaboration with Habitat, this special Lates program is happening soon and offers attendees a private exhibition viewing alongside an engaging panel discussion. Join Habitat’s designers, Simone Brewster (recent collaborator), and TopMob’s design editor as they share insights into their creative processes.
As an excited fan, I would suggest: “I’m eager to discover more about this month-long installation series at the Design Museum and secure my spot for the Lates event. Let’s head over to their website right away!”
