In contrast to expectations, “Ne Zha 2” outperformed most Chinese commercial blockbusters in North America upon its release on Valentine’s Day, February 14th.

At the Beijing festival, there will be significant advancements for Chinese animated films as the remarkable success at the box office persists. Organizers have shared that this event will serve as a crucial stepping stone in this progression. The 15th Beijing International Film Festival is offering a special exhibit of hand-painted posters featuring the film “Ne Zha 2” to the Chinese animation film industry and the broader movie audience, demonstrating their longstanding commitment to connecting filmmakers with viewers.

A section of the exhibit will feature a shopping area offering items like stuffed toys, illustrated storybooks, and keychains, as per the festival’s announcement.

The movie Ne Zha 2 offers a creative spin on Chinese folklore and a well-known 16th-century novel. It serves as a follow-up to China’s highest-grossing animated film prior, being the sequel to Ne Zha (2019). The title character in the original is portrayed as an underdog and the reborn demon, battling against his destiny to protect his village. In this new installment, Ne Zha encounters fresh trials as he confronts the corrupt deities and demons that rule the heavens.

The “Ne Zha 2” showcase is scheduled to take place at the cultural center, which is located within Beijing’s Langyuan Station’s central station.
