Exterritorial: Netflix’s Next Must-See Action Thriller Drops Next Month!

continues to fight the good fight for no-nonsense action movie magic, with the streaming giant having now revealed the release date for what could easily be their next action thriller smash hit. Now all set to be unleashed next month, Exterritorial sounds like it could be the next
, as a former Special Forces soldier is forced to resurrect her particular set of kills after her son mysteriously goes missing.

According to Netflix, the German action outing, which has been made in conjunction with Constantin Television (Dear Child), is due to be released on the streamer on April 30, 2025. Written and directed by Christian Zübert, Exterritorial promises to be as gripping as Liam Neeson’s action movie magnum opus, and you can check out the official synopsis for Exterritorial below.

“On a visit to the US consulate in Frankfurt, the young son of former Special Forces soldier Sara (Jeanne Goursaud) suddenly disappears without a trace. Stranger still, nobody seems to remember him ever being in the building. Sara is asked to leave, but she knows that the German authorities have no leverage inside the US consulate, and if she leaves now, she might never see her son again. Sara moves deeper into the labyrinthine consulate, desperately searching for her son, unaware of the dangerous intrigue gradually tightening a noose around her neck.”

Will ‘Exterritorial’ Be the Next Netflix Action Movie Hit?

Jeanne Goursaud stars as the lead character and action hero Sara, alongside Dougray Scott in his debut German-speaking role as chief of security Erik Kynch, and Lera Abova as Irina, the daughter of a Russian oligarch. The cast also features Kayode Akinyemi, Annabelle Mandeng, Samuel Tehrani, Jeremy Schuetze, Kris Saddler, and Nina Liu.

Netflix has been on a real hot streak for some time when it comes to action movie fare. The likes of Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction, Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds’ Red Notice, and the comic book adaptation The Old Guard have given way to more underrated hits like The Night Comes for Us, Ad Vitam, and The Shadow Strays, as well as more big hits such as the critically acclaimed Rebel Ridge and Taron Egerton’s festive action flick Carry-On. Based on the premise and what we’ve seen so far, Exterritorial contains all the ingredients to become the next Netflix action movie success alongside the likes of this year’s The Old Guard 2 and the Tom Hardy-led Havoc.

As for the beloved action franchise from which Exterritorial seemingly takes some inspiration, Taken lead Liam Neeson has revealed (again) that he plans to retire from the action movie genre soon. Fans have been wondering since the release of Taken 3 back in 2014 whether there are any plans for Taken 4 before that happens. Sadly, it sounds like the actor has left the unstoppable aged action hero Bryan Mills behind for good, with Neeson saying in 2016:

No, she can’t be taken again. If we need someone else to take her, it would be ‘Could you please take my daughter?’
