As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement about the return of Arkveld, the enigmatic and formidable flagship monster in Monster Hunter Wilds! This legendary creature is gearing up to test our mettle in the upcoming second open beta, scheduled for two weekends: February 6-9 and February 13-16. Get ready to immerse yourself in the wilds before its official release on February 28th. Can’t wait to see you there!
Enthusiasts of the show suspected that the main monster might appear in the second open test, given Capcom’s history of introducing their iconic monsters in demo battles ahead of a game launch.
The upcoming battle against Arkveld won’t be a walk in the park. Much like how Capcom has designed it for past games, this hunt is a complex mission that requires strategy and skill. Players have already faced tough opponents such as Malzeno in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak’s demo, just as they did with Nergigante and Velkhana in World and Iceborne. Expect the difficulty level to rise even higher with Arkveld, especially given the introduction of new controls and mechanics in The Wilds.
Long-standing followers are well aware that the main monsters of Monster Hunter take center stage in the narrative, usually emerging just before the actual final boss fight. Nergigante paved the path to Xeno’Jiva, Magnamalo led to Narwa, and now Arkveld seems set to be the penultimate challenge on the road to whatever lies ahead in Monster Hunter Wilds’ endgame. Needless to say, anticipation is at an all-time peak!
On its official game site, it’s stated that Arkveld doesn’t fall under any known category of monsters. This enigmatic creature was believed to be extinct, yet it mysteriously reappears to torment the Forbidden Lands. To Hunters, this unknown entity is a definite cause for concern.
In the recent Monster Hunter Showcase trailer, I got a chilling preview of Arkveld’s formidable prowess. This beast can lash out with its whip-like muscles from a distance and even absorb powers from different monsters, including fearsome Apex creatures like Rey Dau. If it indeed taps into the thunderous abilities of these Apex beasts, it could make the hunt against Arkveld an exhilarating dance of strategy and adaptation. The type of powers it might acquire depends on which Apex monsters are lurking in the area. For instance, if it feeds off Uth Duna’s abilities, it could potentially develop aquatic prowess.
Reflecting on it, this idea is quite daunting – precisely the sort of formidable test that a flagship Monster Hunter is famed for.
Enthusiasts, including myself, can hardly contain our enthusiasm to tackle this formidable challenge. I wonder how many times I’ll fail in my attempts or end up abandoning shopping carts. However, I’ve battled against tough opponents like this before, just as countless other gamers have done, and we’ve emerged victorious every time. This won’t be an exception.
Bring it on.
