David Leitch, who transitioned from being a stuntman to a film director with credits like John Wick and The Fall Guy, is reportedly in discussions for the director’s chair on an upcoming Ocean’s film, according to a reliable source speaking to The Hollywood Reporter.
TheInSneider was the first to report the news.
In the upcoming installment of the heist film series, it’s anticipated that George Clooney will reprise his role as Danny Ocean, with Clooney’s production company, Smokehouse, backing the Warner Bros production. Additionally, Brad Pitt, who collaborated with director Leitch on the movie “Bullet Train”, is expected to make a return. The cast also includes Matt Damon and Casey Affleck.
The Ocean’s series of movies features a band of criminals executing progressively bold heists, with Pitt and Clooney appearing in the last instalment, Ocean’s 13, which was released in 2007. Together, the three films made over $420 million at the U.S. box office. In 2018, a spinoff focusing on female characters, titled Ocean’s 8, hit the screens.
The most recent “Ocean’s” film marks a departure from the main series, as it is not directed by Steven Soderbergh – instead, Gary Ross was at the helm for “Ocean’s 8”.
There are more than one Ocean’s movies being developed right now. Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie will be starring in a new Ocean’s Eleven story, directed by Jay Roach, which takes place in Europe during the 1960s.
