As a seasoned gamer and lifelong Transformers enthusiast, I must admit I find myself torn between excitement and trepidation regarding the upcoming “Transformers One.” Having grown up with the original series and subsequent iterations, I’ve witnessed the evolution of these iconic characters across various mediums.
Next month, the release of Transformers One will mark a substantial shift from recent films in several key aspects. Unlike the live-action/CGI blockbusters we’ve seen before, Transformers One is an animated movie set on Cybertron. Additionally, this film boasts a much more humorous portrayal of the characters compared to previous big-screen appearances. It also serves as an origin story, where classic figures like Optimus Prime and Megatron are depicted in their early days, even as friends instead of adversaries.
It’s certainly a different take on the characters than most will be familiar with, but it’s actually a different take on the characters than even serious fans are familiar with. A new video for Transformers One recently dropped on Instagram highlighting the voice cast, which has turned into a debate on Transformers canon.

Why Some Fans Are Worried About Transformers One
One fan posted in the comments of the video that they were concerned about the movie, because of the way it doesn’t adhere to the franchise’s existing lore. The commenter posted…
Being a longtime admirer of Transformers, I find myself quite apprehensive about this upcoming film. The plot seems entertaining, but it strays considerably from established lore. For instance, instead of being the ruthless Megatron we’re familiar with, he was initially a gladiator named Megatronus, and they apparently hadn’t yet encountered Bumblebee at that point in time.
Without a doubt, the latest “Transformers One” film appears to present a narrative distinct from its predecessors in comics, cartoons, and earlier films. While familiar elements from the past are noticeable, there seems to be a considerable amount of revisions made. Remarkably, many fans don’t seem overly troubled by these changes since it isn’t the first time that Transformers have undergone a change in origin story.
Transformers Already Has Multiple Origin Stories
Over the years, the Transformers franchise has gone through numerous adaptations across various platforms, and interestingly, none of these versions share a consistent origin tale. Although they share some common elements, each version of Transformers has crafted its unique narrative, with Transformers One appearing to be the latest addition.
Many supporters find it acceptable to have a fresh origin story, considering it as just one of several versions. There are aspects that resemble earlier narratives, and the concept that Prime and Megatron were once companions isn’t entirely novel. One spectator suggested that since Transformers One seems to draw from various continuities, the film aligns with the existing body of knowledge…
Friend, this interpretation aligns closely with established lore, yet it incorporates elements from various segments of the franchise, such as Aligned, Generation 1, IDW Comics (particularly IDW), among others.
As a die-hard Transformers fan myself, at the heart of it all, the burning question that lingers is: Will this movie knock our socks off? From the buzz I’ve been picking up, with many critics already privy to the first installment, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. It seems we might just be in store for the finest Transformers movie yet! Here’s hoping that even the most meticulous fans who scrutinize the lore can put their concerns aside and enjoy a truly fantastic film.
