Fans Are Going Off On George R.R. Martin About Winds Of Winter After He Dropped A Dramatic Post About House Of The Dragon

As a die-hard fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the intricate world of Westeros since the early days of George R.R. Martin’s epic saga, it’s safe to say that I find myself caught between the proverbial dragon and the fire when it comes to the latest developments surrounding both “House of the Dragon” and Mr. Martin himself.

When Season 2 of “House of the Dragon” concluded on the 2024 TV schedule, there was a widespread feeling of disappointment among viewers. Although the finale had strong ties to “Game of Thrones” and some spectacular scenes, it was generally met with mixed reactions. Interestingly, George R.R. Martin, the author whose books form the basis for this series, is also not currently pleased with the “GOT” prequel. However, following a passionate post from him, fans quickly directed their frustration towards him regarding “The Winds of Winter”.

George R.R. Martin Posted A Dramatic Statement About House Of The Dragon

George R.R. Martin frequently updates his site Not A Blog, and in his latest post, he discussed the Burning of Zozobra. The majority of the piece delves into the background of this Santa Fe event, but he also mentioned that this year has been particularly difficult for him. He went on to share some details about his travels and teased what he plans to write about in future posts.

On the other hand, it’s worth mentioning that he expressed his lack of enthusiasm for penning about House of the Dragon, stating:

I’m not excited about the upcoming posts I have to write, detailing the issues with HOUSE OF THE DRAGON… yet it’s a task I must tackle. However, today isn’t that day. Today is Zozobra’s day, a time for us to move past shadows and embrace brightness instead.

The author casually added that element to his post with minimal explanation, but it’s not unexpected given that he appreciated the canine character and Tom Glynn-Carney’s portrayal of Aegon this season. However, he does have particular criticisms regarding House of the Dragon.

Indeed, given that many viewers found Daemon’s Harrenhal storyline unappealing in the series and felt let down by an allegedly underwhelming Season 2 finale, it comes as no surprise that George R.R. Martin might be feeling somewhat dissatisfied right now.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that I’m not merely drawn to George R.R. Martin’s dramatic flair; rather, it’s the anticipation of seeing “House of the Dragon” unfold on screen that excites us. Yet, the lingering incompleteness of “Winds of Winter” remains a source of frustration for many fans like myself, eagerly waiting for its conclusion.

Fans Are Popping Off About It And The Fact That Winds Of Winter Still Isn’t Finished

At present, it’s evident that George is distressed over “House of the Dragon”, yet he didn’t explain the reason in his last post. Consequently, true to form among “Game of Thrones” enthusiasts, some fans speculated that his book “The Winds of Winter” remains unfinished and they’re still anticipating its release.

For example, @shwinnypooh wondered why he was blogging instead of working on the book, explaining:

Guy will do anything but fucking finish Winds of Winter

On the same wave-length, @mattglesias retweeted an X post about Martin’s HOTD take and wrote:

I would simply complete ‘The Winds of Winter’

At the same time, @mbapadre is feeling frustrated as well because the blog post was published, but the much anticipated book has yet to arrive.

He will write anything but the actual book

Continuing with the pattern of strong-worded messages, @Bern2688 voiced their discontent over “The Winds of Winter” and George R.R. Martin’s recent blog post, expressing their feelings in a series of comments.

Just write Winds of Winter for the love of the seven gods

Here, the recurring sentiment appears to be disappointment and irritation. It seems that Martin himself is feeling overwhelmed by the ongoing project “House of the Dragon,” while his followers remain upset because they’re yet to lay hands on “Winds of Winter.”

Alia_MovieGirl shared a humorous image, taken backstage during the filming of ‘House of the Dragon’, that Tom Glynn-Carney posted on his Instagram. You can find this amusing snapshot in the last slide of the actor’s original post (embedded below).

He will do everything except write Winds of Winter 😭

Currently, there’s quite a bit of frustration and resentment circulating among fans of the ‘Game of Thrones’.

It’s likely we’ll discover soon the reason behind George R.R. Martin’s frustration with ‘House of the Dragon’. Perhaps this understanding might encourage him to eventually release ‘The Winds of Winter’, satisfying his eager readers.

While waiting for Season 3 of HOTD, I recommend catching up on the first two seasons and also Game of Thrones, both available for streaming with a Max subscription. Rest assured, as new developments unfold in the drama we discussed earlier, we will make certain to update you promptly.
