Fans Have Been Clamoring For Danny And Baez To Get Together On Blue Bloods. What Donnie Wahlberg Says

As a dedicated fan of Blue Bloods, I eagerly await the final season to unfold and see how the Reagan family’s story concludes. The bond between Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria Baez has been evident for quite some time now, and I have always rooted for them to finally become a couple.

1. In 2024, Blue Bloods is among the numerous series concluding or being canceled, leaving viewers eager for its final resolution. The last season’s episodes (Season 14) are set to air during the fall 2024 TV schedule, with just eight episodes remaining to wrap up the Reagan family saga. There are still many storylines left to explore, such as the developing relationship between Danny Reagan and Maria Baez, and Donnie Wahlberg shares his thoughts on it.

After Marisa Ramirez began playing Baez in “Blue Bloods” during Season 3, viewers noticed a growing connection between her character and Danny. This bond became more apparent following the off-screen death of Danny’s wife, Linda (Amy Carlson), between Seasons 7 and 8. Since then, the show has explored their relationship and mutual feelings, but they have not yet formally become a couple.

During an episode in Season 14 this year, a fan expressed on X that Danny appeared unimpressed when Baez went out for drinks with another person. Unsurprisingly, Donnie Wahlberg also shared his personal views about the situation.

He is not pleased. ❤️💙

It appears logical that after Linda’s unexpected passing, Blue Bloods has been setting up Danny for a romantic interest beyond Linda – perhaps Baez. Based on his actions and Wahlberg’s perspective, it seems that Danny might be developing feelings for her. However, whether this will develop into a full-blown romance remains uncertain as the final episodes are yet to unfold, leaving us guessing about the future of these characters.

In an interview with TV Insider last May, showrunner Kevin Wade shared that he recognizes the strong connection between Danny and Baez. However, he’s not convinced they will end up in a romantic relationship anytime soon. This is partly because Danny has been portrayed as a solitary figure who puts all his focus into his work and enjoys his independence. Moreover, with only eight episodes remaining in the season, Wade feels it would be challenging to introduce and fully explore a new romantic storyline.

The crowd might believe they crave a romantic relationship between Danny and Baez. It’s conceivable that’s true, but it could also be an error on my part. If we were to pair them up, however, I can’t envision what would transpire if they share a dinner, presumably content with each other.

In other words, it’s possible that a romance between Danny and Baez won’t develop in the last episodes of the series. At most, there might be hints or confirmation during the finale or their last family dinner scene. However, there are many open ends that need resolution. As a fan of their relationship, I hope they end up together, but timing could be an issue. We can only wait and find out how the story unfolds and if Donnie Wahlberg’s character finds love again.

For supporters of “Blue Bloods,” don’t miss out on the new episodes starting October 18, 10 p.m. ET exclusively on CBS. Previously missed episodes are available for viewing with a Paramount+ membership.
