I’m consistently amazed by the upcoming movie lineup in 2025, featuring numerous projects with exciting updates or, like The Fantastic Four: First Steps, a much-anticipated revamp that introduces us to the “First Family of Superheroes” in a futuristic style reminiscent of Disney’s aesthetic.
The upcoming Marvel movie for July is generating excitement not just for its stunning visuals, but also for the impressive cast. Recently, Marvel Studios showed a sneak peek of director Matt Shakman’s work to a wider audience. This first look at the film provides a clear view of the entire Fantastic Four team… and also H.E.R.B.I.E., their robot companion.
It’s crucial to keep in mind that both San Diego Comic-Con and D23’s 2024 exhibitions showcased early glimpses of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and other main actors from the cast of “First Steps“. However, these are the first instances where the public has been given a sneak peek at this footage… and it didn’t fall short of expectations. In fact, we were also treated to scenes depicting the title team before and after they acquired their superhero abilities.

Regarding the content of the trailer, it was somewhat scant but still incredibly thrilling. We caught brief glimpses of each team member displaying their powers, along with a glimpse of their futuristic environment. However, Galactus and Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer were conspicuously absent from this initial teaser.
Despite the vibrant revival of the Fantastic Four, there are certain enigmas that persist. As previously hinted, Galactus and Silver Surfer haven’t yet seized the spotlight. Moreover, though we were swiftly smitten with H.E.R.B.I.E., fans continue to ponder over Natasha Lyonne’s undisclosed role in the Marvel film.
To build excitement for the upcoming teaser release of “Fantastic Four: First Steps”, a brief yet charming clip featuring children clustered around a ’60s television set was employed. This clip evoked memories of the intense American/Soviet Space Race, during which Walt Disney’s hopeful vision of the future left an indelible impact on popular culture.
The identical tone permeated in the latest teaser poster for “First Steps”, showcasing a design reminiscent of a vintage aesthetic. Here’s hoping Disney will manufacture collector-worthy buttons sporting such a retro style.
Occasionally, we still catch hints of our excitement for Tomorrow, and it appears that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is saturated with that very vibe. As the 25th of July draws near, it seems both imminent and distant at the same time, but let’s hope for more sneak peeks soon. After all, fans are eager to witness the team in action or combat as quickly as possible. Of course, the most intriguing question is how this classic squad will find a way to blend into the main MCU timeline, paving the way for crossover events like Avengers: Doomsday.
