Even though “Avengers: Doomsday” won’t start filming in London for a few more weeks, Marvel has already made a strong commitment to Doctor Doom within their comic book stories.
Currently, the company is unfolding its narrative centered around the apocalyptic scenario known as ‘One World Under Doom’. In this storyline, Doctor Doom has seized control of Earth. Consequently, The Hollywood Reporter offers a sneak peek into the upcoming events for the Fantastic Four, where they grapple with untangling the schemes devised by their principal adversary.
Marvel kicks off their new journeys with the July release of Fantastic Four Issue 1, featuring a time-travel yarn where, during a clash with Doom, the quartet get flung to various epochs of Earth’s past. The only way they can rectify matters is by locating an artifact known as the Forever Stone, a durable granite mass that exists throughout Earth’s history and serves as one of its longest-surviving rocks. To add excitement, Ben Grimm faces off against a dinosaur in these very pages!
Writer Ryan North, who’s known for his extensive work with the Fantastic Four, has prepared for this occasion over time. This skilled author has penned a book delving into the complexities of time travel and also creates Dinosaur Comics.
Despite the fact that this initial tale is centered around dinosaurs and time travel, it essentially explores the strong bonds of affection among these four extraordinary individuals,” North points out. “Usually, the Fantastic Four are associated with family, and rightly so, but there’s a profound beauty in friendship as well, which we get to witness through these characters. It’s a blend of imaginative science fiction and genuine emotion – a combination that is hard to resist.
Humberto Ramos, the artist, remarks, “I’ve been fortunate to depict numerous iconic superheroes throughout the universe, but this project stood out from the beginning. The burden of history and tradition attached to these characters is always there, no matter who you are or your experience within this industry.
This newly released book comes after issue 33 of June’s “Fantastic Four,” marking the end of North’s ongoing storyline.
The upcoming “Fantastic Four” storyline is situated right in the midst of our “One World Under Doom” event. Consequently, you can expect it to significantly contribute to the initial issues, followed by a series of intriguing scientific puzzles, terrifying monsters, and ventures beyond Earth into space.
