Fantasy Voyager takes you on an adventure into a twisted fairytale adventure, out now

  • Fantasy Voyage is a new ARPG that mixes in elements of tower defence
  • It promises a new take on the fairytale format, with twisted versions of storybook characters
  • Collect Spirit Cards and build your Bond with a variety of interesting characters

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from pixelated pioneers to state-of-the-art immersive experiences. Yet, there’s always room for something fresh and innovative to grab my attention, and Fantasy Voyager seems to be just that!

If you’re yearning for fresh perspectives on timeless fairy tales, you might be struggling to find recent offerings that tickle your fancy. However, the topic at hand, Fantasy Voyager, could potentially strike a chord with its blend of anime-inspired, darkly twisted fairy tales, along with action role-playing game (ARPG) elements, tower defense, and cooperative play!

Originating from developer Fantasy Tree, Fantasy Voyager transports you into a struggle in the Dream Kingdom, where the Princess is waging war against the Lord of Nightmares. Your mission is to gather Spirit Cards, each representing distorted versions of beloved fairy tale figures, to vanquish the Lord of Nightmares.

What exactly will Fantasy Voyager deliver? It offers a mix of the standard ARPG combat you’d anticipate, combined with defensive strategies reminiscent of Warcraft. As you advance, you’ll strengthen your bond with spirit cards to unlock potent new effects and abilities, in this unique rendition of the Once Upon a Time genre.

Beyond the red hood

While Fantasy Voyager may not be exceptional in terms of gameplay, its unique twist on fairytales really appeals to me. It’s not an extremely rare concept, but it’s also not overly common. In fact, even Disney has started exploring this idea. Regardless, I believe there’s a lot of potential for this concept across different genres.

Should you give it a try? While I can’t make that decision for you, if you appreciate unique character designs and are seeking an immersive gaming experience packed with equally captivating gameplay, then Fantasy Voyager could very well be the latest game worth exploring.
