Farzi: Did you know Shahid Kapoor’s show was initially planned as film with Nawazuddin Siddiqui? Here’s how it became a series

The suspenseful television show known as “Farzi” has kept viewers hooked due to its complex storyline and outstanding ensemble. Remarkably, this series was originally intended to be a full-length film featuring Shahid Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Initially, it was a single narrative, but as time went on, the creators broadened its scope, turning it into a web series. This transformation resulted in Vijay Sethupathi taking over the role that was originally offered to Siddiqui, introducing a new element of excitement to the plotline.

The story revolves around Sunny, played by Shahid Kapoor, who is a gifted artist but feels disheartened by the significant income differences in society. In an attempt to rescue his grandfather’s near-bankrupt printing press, Sunny teams up with his loyal friend Firoz (Bhuvan Arora), daringly entering the risky realm of producing counterfeit goods.

Law enforcement swiftly becomes aware of their activities, with a particular focus from Michael Vedanayagam, portrayed by Vijay Sethupathi, who is a tenacious officer on a mission to take down the counterfeit operation.

As Sunny progresses further into the clandestine business, he becomes ensnared in a thrilling yet perilous chase, confronting obstacles that put both his ethical principles and fortitude to the ultimate test.

The show “Farzi” was originally envisioned by the highly regarded team of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, often referred to as Raj & DK. Initially, their plan was to create a movie, but they saw an opportunity for a more intricate storyline and transformed it into an eight-episode television series instead.

This structure enabled a thorough examination of character depth and a complex representation of the fake underworld. Filming started in July 2021, covering various locations such as Mumbai, Goa, Alibaug, Nepal, and Jordan. These diverse settings added an element of authenticity and broadened the series’ global outlook.

Starting on Amazon Prime Video on the 10th of February, 2023, the show “Farzi” has been praised by many for its captivating plot, impressive acting, and insightful critique of social matters.

The initial series skillfully intertwines ideas about drive, ethics, and the repercussions of decisions, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats, anxiously waiting for more episodes to come.
