Looking for tips on how to deal with excessive REV Blow attacks in Fatal Fury: City of Wolves? We’ve got solutions ready for you!
The latest addition to the long-dormant SNK series is an absolute joy to experience. In our assessment, we deemed it one of the most intricate fighting games in recent times, and REV Blow stands out as a crucial element within this game.
If you want to know how to stop it, you need to know how it works.
REV Blow Explained
In the game of COTW, the REV Blow mechanic serves as an exclusive feature that activates when your Super Power Gauge (SPG) is live. This tool enables you to execute a potent retaliatory strike, which, if successful, can inflict massive damage.
Overcoming REV Blow’s defense might prove challenging due to its armored protection that thwarts your attacks. Here are some strategies to outmaneuver this obstacle:
1. Attempt to exploit weak spots in the armor, if any, during openings or gaps in its defensive posture.
2. Use projectile or ranged attacks to bypass the armor and hit REV Blow directly.
3. Utilize quick, evasive maneuvers to dodge its attacks while simultaneously launching counterattacks to capitalize on moments of vulnerability.
4. Employ teamwork with allies to distract or weaken REV Blow, making it easier for you to attack effectively.
REV Blow Back
A more straightforward approach would be to Counter-strike with a REV Blow after applying some initial, gentle force with your attacks. If your adversaries begin to glow green, there should be enough time left for you to regain balance and deliver the counterattack effectively.
The primary condition is that your S.P.G bar should be active, but this doesn’t happen consistently. Because you can choose when S.P.G activates within the health bar, it’s unlikely that you and your opponents will both have it active at the same time.
Grab It
A different strategy could be adopting a more cautious approach and incorporating additional grappling moves. This tactic is somewhat similar to DI (Directional Influence) in Street Fighter 6, where you can seize an opponent initiating a REV Blow during their startup sequence.
In this situation, even gentle breezes can be affected, but due to the extremely narrow window of opportunity, it’s advisable to effectively mute or ignore them.
Use The Dodge Attack
Instead of using the Dodge Attack (combination of REV Guard and Heavy Punch) to counteract an opponent’s repeated use of the REV Blow from a distance where grabbing isn’t possible, consider employing an alternative tactic.
Keep this tool handy as it’s highly efficient against REV Blow. Familiarize yourself with its use, developing muscle memory to respond swiftly when needed.
Super It
It seems clear that the Gears outperform REV Blows in terms of cleaning. Regardless if we’re talking about basic levels (level 1 and level 2) or hidden gears, quick input results in significant damage.
Here’s another way of saying it: You’ve got a lot of options for countering REV Blow, so have fun experimenting and safe travels to South Town!
