As a gamer who has spent countless hours binge-watching Dick Wolf’s shows and following the careers of his talented cast members, I must say it’s a thrilling moment to see Jesse Lee Soffer on the set of FBI: International. The anticipation of watching him in action as Supervisory Special Agent Wesley “Wes” Mitchell has been building for months, and now that filming has started, it feels like a long-awaited mission finally coming to life.
Upon learning that Jesse Lee Soffer was leaving Chicago P.D., it was a real letdown. The Intelligence Unit would no longer have Detective Jay Halstead, and fans wouldn’t get to enjoy Soffer’s performances weekly. However, this situation is set to change as the actor has been cast in another Dick Wolf show, FBI: International. Filming for the fourth season of the FBI spinoff has already begun, and it’s quite exciting to see Soffer back on set.
Soffer’s new role on International won’t be a carbon copy of Jay, luckily. He is set to portray Supervisory Special Agent Wesley “Wes” Mitchell, the Fly Team’s newest leader following the departure of Luke Kleintank’s Scott Forrester. His “charming and rakish” behavior will be an interesting addition to the team, and fans are already seeing how he’s been doing on set. The official FBI Instagram account shared a fun video of the International cast ready as ever for Season 4, and seeing Soffer in the mix is pretty great:

Two months ago, I learned that Soffer was joining FBI: International, so it’s not really a shock to find him on the Budapest set now. But seeing the cameras roll and being there with the rest of the cast is definitely making it feel more tangible. It’ll be strange to see him playing a character other than Jay, especially since Chicago P.D. and FBI: International are part of the same universe. Still, I’m excited to catch him on screen again!
As a dedicated gamer (or fan, if you prefer), I’ve got to say that the details about Season 4 are still under wraps. Unlike other networks that are kicking off their premieres in September, CBS is holding back until October. So, we might be waiting a bit longer for the official scoop on what’s next. The Fly Team has been through thick and thin, but with a change in leadership inevitable, it remains to be seen how Jesse Lee Soffer’s character Wes will fit into the team dynamics moving forward.
In the latest addition to FBI: International, Christina Wolfe has stepped into the role of intel analyst Amanda Tate. She made her debut in Season 3 and has shown great potential as a valuable asset to the Fly Team. Essentially, she took over from Heida Reed’s character, Jamie Kellett, who was present until the Season 3 premiere. Changes in cast are not unusual for International, but it’s always exciting to observe how the team dynamic adjusts with each new member joining the show.
Viewers can eagerly anticipate catching Jesse Lee Soffer on the small screen when FBI: International starts its Season 4 on Tuesday, October 15 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS as part of the 2024 television lineup. With his much-awaited appearance and numerous other exciting developments, this new season promises not to disappoint, so don’t forget to tune in for every moment!
