Netflix is gearing up for a throwback to 1988 as they prepare to launch the fourth film in their deal with R.L. Stine, author of Goosebumps and Fear Street. The much-anticipated release of the fourth Fear Street movie is near. Unlike its predecessors, this installment will be a direct adaptation of the 15th Fear Street novel, The Prom Queen, from Stine’s popular young adult book series. A new teaser for Fear Street: Prom Queen has been unveiled, with an official release date set for May 23, perfectly timed for prom season!
Under the guidance of director Matt Palmer, this upcoming R-rated horror film is expected to follow the trend set by its three predecessors, intensifying the horror and gruesome scenes from the initial teen-friendly stories, turning them into adult-oriented modern horror movies. Even if you’re not familiar with Stine’s teen horror tales, don’t fret. Like the beloved Goosebumps books, the Fear Street series doesn’t follow a strict timeline, allowing directors to exercise their creativity and produce adaptations that suit their unique style.
R.L. Stine Really Knows How To Scare
It’s always nice to be able to confidently state that Netflix is doing a good job with something, and when it comes to theFear Street movies, the streamer has really been knocking it out of the park. Striking a deal with one of the best-selling horror authors of all time also didn’t hurt their chances of making a killer horror film franchise.
The official logline for Fear Street: Prom Queen reads similarly to that of its source material:
Greetings once more to Shadyside!
