Fifth Season Promotes Sheridan Thayer to Head of TV Physical Production, Hires Netflix’s Lauren Deitch (Exclusive)

According to exclusive reports by The Hollywood Reporter, the film and TV studio known as Fifth Season has elevated Sheridan Thayer to the position of Executive Vice President and Head of Television Physical Production. Furthermore, the company, previously known as Endeavor Content, has brought on board Deitch Jones from Netflix, appointing him as Vice President of Television Development and Production.

5th Season Productions is the studio responsible for the Apple TV+ hit “Severance”; previously, Sarah Thayer held a senior vice president and deputy head of television production position at this studio. She will continue to work under Todd Sharp, who currently serves as President of Production at 5th Season. Meanwhile, Deitch will report to Jill Arthur and Noah Greenshner, the current Executive Vice Presidents of Television Development and Production.

Sarah Thayer worked for the studio that made “Severance” on Apple TV+ in a high-ranking production role. She’ll keep working with Todd Sharp, who runs production at the studio now. Deitch will work for Jill Arthur and Noah Greenshner, who manage development and production in television.

She’s an exceptional executive with a wealth of knowledge in TV development and production, particularly at the top tier. Thayer and Deitch are planning to broaden their lineup of original productions, featuring: “Chief of War,” spearheaded by Jason Momoa; “The Savant,” starring Jessica Chastain under the direction of Matthew Heineman – both for Apple TV+. For Netflix, there’s “His & Hers” with Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal, as well as “East of Eden,” which stars Florence Pugh and is based on John Steinbeck’s timeless classic. Additionally, “Severance” is set for a third season, and “Nine Perfect Strangers” starring Nicole Kidman is heading towards a second season on Hulu.

Thayer boasts over three decades of experience in television and film. Previously, she worked with Legendary Entertainment for six years, serving as the vice president of TV Land’s production department. Throughout her career, Thayer has been instrumental in producing or co-producing numerous successful series, such as the Emmy-winning eight-time champion show “Monk”. She is currently a General Fellowship Mentor for Women in Film and a longstanding member of The Women’s Production Society.

At Netflix, Deitch oversaw the creation and manufacturing of over 20 original drama series. Prior to this, she worked as a creative executive in television and film for Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gloria Sanchez Productions. Deitch started her career in the television literary department at UTA (United Talent Agency).
