In the horror series that we all know and cherish, Final Destination: Bloodlines marks the sixth thrilling chapter. It’s been quite some time since the last film was released, 14 years to be exact. What sets this sequel apart is its innovative storytelling twist on a beloved concept that fans simply can’t get enough of.
The story, titled Bloodlines, revolves around a tightly-bonded family, who are being pursued by none other than Death itself. Their lineage is considered a breach of the law by the series’ antagonist, primarily due to their grandmother. In the 1950s, she managed to evade her own demise after receiving a prophecy that allowed her to save countless lives that were destined to perish.

Final Destination: Bloodlines Director on the Film’s Budget
TopMobing Duo Aimed to Create the Biggest ‘Final Destination’ Ever.
- TopMob: “These movies have always been kind of very effective with kind of a low, mid budget range, with this new one, was the budget pretty similar to other ones? Or did they give you even more tools and resources than usual?”
Adam Stein: Essentially, our budget wasn’t much different from previous ones, yet we had less filming days than before. However, since we’re from an indie filmmaking background, we saw this as a chance to utilize more tools. We managed to make the most of our budget and cram in as many gruesome spectacles as possible. It’s always a challenge to have insufficient time or resources, but it was thrilling to be able to create what we believe is the grandest ‘Final Destination’ experience ever crafted.
The Crazy Pitch for Final Destination That the World Will Never See
“They Didn’t Record the Zoom Call…”
- TopMob: “My first question is, you know, I hear you guys had a crazy pitch, but what I really want to ask about is, where’s the footage of it?”
Adam Stein: It was astonishing since it was an authentic live event. Unfortunately, they didn’t save the Zoom meeting, making it a unique occurrence, I suppose. There were segments that were pre-prepared, but we cherished the thrill of turning it into a live performance because we were conversing, pitching ideas live, and then things started to malfunction. The intricate ‘Final Destination’ Rube Goldberg machine was set in motion, resulting in my… decapitation, if you will. To put it simply, I lost my head for some time, bringing me closer to being a solo director again.
Why the Concept of ‘Bloodlines’ Caught Their Attention
While They Thought ‘Final Destination 5’ Was a Great Ending, It Was the Family Angle That Opened the Door for More.
- TopMob: “So, the movie is called ‘Bloodlines,’ right? It follows death hunting down a family. What is it about that idea that really spoke to you guys and like in evolving the franchise? And then also, how do you think it’s going to paint the whole series in a new light for long-term fans?”
Zach Lipovsky expressed curiosity about the upcoming movie since they found the ending of ‘Final Destination 5’ to be exceptional, wrapping up the series in a satisfying manner. They also pondered over how to maintain freshness and evolution in this new installment, questioning the rationale behind creating another one.
Delving deeper into the narrative, I found myself unveiling layers upon layers, enriching the tapestry of a captivating family saga. It provided ample opportunities to flesh out characters who genuinely care for one another, harboring hidden resentments and complex emotions. Yet, when the threat of death looms over a kin, the tension escalates exponentially. This familial dynamic not only made the story profoundly meaningful but also infused it with a richness that was nothing short of riveting.
It also offered us an opportunity to create an initial impression of a period piece set much earlier and in a unique manner compared to typical ‘Final Destination’ films, thereby making it clear from the start that this would be something different for the audience.
Bloodline Directors Address Possible Involvement in Next Sequel
“Death’s Work Is Never Done”
- TopMob: “The movie is tracking to already be a hit, have there been any discussions about any possible sequels? Like, are you guys gonna keep keep your toes in this franchise?”
Adam Stein: The task of Death is perpetual; there are always more conflicts to resolve. Over the past three years, we’ve invested our most creative thoughts into this film. Working alongside Jon Watts, Craig, Sheila, the producers, and the writers, we enjoyed coming up with inventive ways to depict death. Currently, we may not have a plethora of fresh, innovative ideas for the upcoming installment.
Zach Lipovsky: It’s possible to understand these predicaments. Yes, it’s usual to have worries that could potentially be taken advantage of.)
