Final Fantasy 14 Limited Event Ruined by Scalpers

As a long-time Final Fantasy 14 player, I’ve seen my fair share of excitement and passion within this gaming community. However, recent events surrounding the limited-time Gong cha collaboration have left a sour taste in my mouth.

Currently, Final Fantasy 14 is in high demand amongst MMO enthusiasts, with plenty of fans eager to continue their involvement by spending money on it. Regrettably, some unscrupulous individuals are exploiting this fervor. They’re hoarding the limited-edition drink collaboration codes and then reselling them at inflated prices.

On GamesRadar’s subreddit, numerous users expressed their concern (Many expressed on GamesRadar’s subreddit) about scalpers exploiting the limited-time milk tea collaboration between Square Enix and Gong cha. After Square Enix revealed that an exclusive mount would be up for grabs in partnership with the milk tea brand, scalpers have been purchasing the drinks in large quantities. To add insult to injury, these codes are now being offered for sale at exorbitant prices, fetching hundreds of dollars.

It’s unfortunate, yet expected, that scalpers engage in this practice of buying up collaboration collectibles in excess and subsequently raising their prices. This isn’t a common occurrence among Final Fantasy 14 fans, but the experience of encountering inflated prices for PS5 consoles in 2020 is all too familiar.

As someone who has been playing MMORPGs for years and has gone through various promotions and in-game sales, I strongly believe that the recent pricing of the Gong cha mechanics’ exclusive mount codes is beyond excessive. When I first heard that players only needed to buy three drinks, priced at $15-$20 each, to obtain this coveted mount, I was initially intrigued. However, upon learning that the codes were being sold for over $100, my initial excitement quickly turned into disappointment and frustration.

The Dawntrail expansion of Final Fantasy 14 has generated significant excitement among players, who have been eagerly anticipating its release. Upon playing it, most fans seem pleased with the experience, despite a few controversial choices. New areas and dungeons have particularly won over fans.

As a long-time fan of Final Fantasy 14, I’ve been thrilled with the exciting collaborations the game has brought us. However, recently, scalpers have been making it difficult for many players, including myself, to enjoy these limited-edition items. It’s disheartening to see people exploiting the system and buying up all the collaborative gear before the rest of us even have a chance to grab it.
