Finneas Says Billie Eilish Is Learning to Produce Music Without Him: “She’s Very Good at It”

As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the evolution of music production since the days of cassette tapes and walkmans, I must say that the journey of Finneas and Billie Eilish is nothing short of inspiring. Their collaborative efforts have not only dominated the charts but also reshaped the landscape of contemporary pop music.

Although Finneas and Billie Eilish will forever remain siblings, there’s a possibility that they might not consistently create music as a team in the future.

In his latest chat with Guitar.com, Finneas shared that he’s been giving more control over music production to Eilish, teaching her the ropes of producing independently. Previously, he was responsible for producing all three of the “Birds of a Feather” artist’s initial albums.

Billie’s recording studio has been arranged by me for her self-reliant home production. As an accomplished artist herself, this allows her to work independently without my presence. Amusingly, I only provided her with the essential equipment; this way, she can fully grasp every aspect of it.

Initially, Finneas used relatively basic equipment for his productions, but as he’s advanced, he’s switched to more sophisticated gear. However, he still believes in the value of starting small and gradually upgrading.

He explained to Eilish something like, ‘I can pass on everything I currently utilize, but keep in mind that it took me years to find a use for them. However, if I share this fundamental item with you, its purpose should become immediately clear,'” he remembered.

Ever since Billie Eilish’s debut album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?,” in 2019, the pair has been ruling the music charts. They have teamed up on their subsequent projects like “Happier Than Ever” in 2021 and “Hit Me Hard and Soft” in 2024. Additionally, Finneas has ventured out on his own, releasing albums such as “Blood Harmony” in 2019 and “Optimist” in 2021.

As a gamer, I’ve got to hand it to Finneas – the guy’s a powerhouse! His unique creative flair has been making waves at award ceremonies, with him snatching up two Oscars and nine Grammys already, all before reaching the big 3-0. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, there might be more accolades coming our way thanks to his sister Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” which dropped earlier this year.
