As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of gritty, post-war drama, I must say that the return of Tom Shelby and the Peaky Blinders gang is like a dream come true! Growing up with this series, I’ve witnessed Tommy’s rise from a local gangster to a formidable power player. The fact that Cillian Murphy and creator Steven Knight are back together for a film adaptation just adds fuel to my excitement.
I’m thrilled to be back on the scene! Netflix has been generous enough to share glimpses of me, reprising my role as the infamous gangster in the upcoming “Peaky Blinders” movie. Alongside creator Steven Knight, we’re cooking up a fresh tale about the Peaky Blinders gang, this time set against the backdrop of post-WWI Birmingham. They’ve even posted pictures showing me in character and one with yours truly and Mr. Knight himself! Can’t wait for you all to see it!
Under the direction of Tom Harper, who had previously worked on numerous episodes, it was announced in June that a film for this series was in development. Originally airing its first episode in 2013, the show concluded its sixth and final season in 2022. At the time of announcement, Murphy expressed his excitement about the film, stating, “It appears Tommy Shelby isn’t done with me…I’m thrilled to be working again with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the movie adaptation of Peaky Blinders. This is for the fans.” In addition, Knight wrote the script for the film and will co-produce alongside Murphy, Caryn Mandabach, Guy Heeley. The producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason with executive producers being Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason.
